Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness

The hotel has a tranquil setting and picturesque riverfront location surrounded by the mountains of the Urubamba range. It has an away-from-it-all atmosphere and romantic vibe, making it popular with couples looking for a peaceful getaway. The hotel is built around an impressive 17th-century hacienda, entered through a grand gateway with tall granite columns. The lobby is spacious and bright with high ceilings and an exposed wooden roof, blending traditional colonial decor with contemporary furniture. Sleek marble floors and modern couches sit alongside oil paintings, ornate furniture, and stained-glass windows that flood the space with multi-colored light. The outdoor pool is a go-to for relaxing and catching some sun, surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens, traditional terra-cotta vases, koi ponds, and roaming alpacas, parrots, and peacocks. There's also a peaceful chapel within the grounds, plus numerous elegant restaurants with outdoor seating and panoramic mountain views. 

The hotel is perfect for travelers who want to get away from it all. It's quite far from any town centers, and there are no local amenities, giving it a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. It's situated on a picturesque river within the Urubamba mountain range, surrounded by large farms and dirt roads. The hotel is a 30- to 40-minute drive from Ollantaytambo Train Station, so it's not too far out of the way for travelers heading to Machu Picchu, and provides a tranquil spot to recharge. There's not a great deal of attractions around the hotel, but the Museo Inkariy is a 20-minute drive away and the Calca town center is a 25-minute drive. Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco is about a 90-minute drive from the hotel. 

The hotel has a total of 115 individually-styled rooms and suites. They're either decorated in a traditional colonial style or a more modern aesthetic with bright colors. Colonial-style rooms have ornate furniture and period details, while modern rooms feature hardwood floors and clean-lined pieces. All are spacious and bright, with large double beds, and standard features include flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, air-conditioning, phone, free bottled water, and free robes and slippers. Wi-Fi is free, though it can be spotty. Every room has a balcony or patio, with some offering lovely views of the mountains or river. Some larger suites add modern kitchenettes, separate dining areas, stand-alone hot tubs, and private pools. Bathrooms are spacious and modern, and include shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and free toiletries. A few maintenance issues have been reported, including slow-to-work heating systems. We also spotted just a bit of wear on some of the wooden surfaces during our visit. 

The Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel has plentiful amenities and several excellent dining options. Gourmet Pukawi serves a traditional a la carte menu in a relaxed setting, while Kusi Pisco Bar & Sushi Bar serves Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine and fresh cocktails. There's freshly-baked pizza prepared in a historic kitchen at the Casona Museum, while Restaurant Rikhuna offers locally-sourced produce and stunning mountain views. The Cava Bar is a must for wine connoisseurs, offering a fine selection of wine from the hotel's cellar. The free breakfast buffet gets superb reviews, with varied hot and cold options and fresh tea and coffee. Room service is available around the clock. 

The outdoor pool is another highlight, surrounded by peaceful gardens, roaming wildlife, and sun loungers for tanning. A hot tub is connected to the swimming pool and has a cabana-style roof. Indoors, there's a tranquil full-service spa offering traditional Andean treatments, plus high-end treatments like hydrotherapy. There's also an indoor hot tub and sauna, plus a huge fitness center with modern cardio equipment, resistance machines, and free weights. Other amenities include a cinema with free popcorn, professional pool tables, museum, historic chapel, and library. The hotel isn't really geared toward corporate travelers, but access to a 24-hour business center and meeting room is available. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, concierge, laundry, babysitting, free self-parking, and free Wi-Fi. Airport transfers can be arranged for a fee.
