Bottom Line

There are 19 rooms at this chic upscale property that sits just outside the center of Queenstown. It’s a quiet spot but provides easy walking access to the town’s lively action. Skiers and snowboarders will appreciate that the hotel is an eight-minute drive from the Coronet Peak ski area, plus that it provides a drying room for equipment. There are few other facilities on-site due to the size of the property, but an excellent breakfast is available daily, as are free pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. Rooms are spacious, light, and modern, with underfloor heating and glass-walled bathrooms. For a larger hotel with more facilities, it’s worth looking at the Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa.

Queenstown Park Boutique Hotel

Scene

Small property with chic, contemporary design

This chic boutique hotel sits just outside the town center with views
across parkland and beyond to the Remarkables Mountains. Design is contemporary inside and out -- the exterior is a sharp combination of natural materials and metal wrought in clean lines and sharp angles -- and the atmosphere throughout is relaxed but sophisticated. The property is well-maintained, and because there are a relatively small number of rooms, it tends to be quiet. The hotel’s public spaces have the feel of a modern alpine lodge and are on-par with many of the sleek chalets that we've visited. There are stacked-stone walls, comfortable armchairs next to floor-to-ceiling windows, and a cozy open fireplace. The hotel is mainly geared toward mature couples or solo travelers and often attracts guests with an interest in design.

Air-conditioning and underfloor heating in sleek, modern rooms

There are 19 spacious and light guest rooms at the Queenstown Park
Boutique Hotel. Guests can expect to see contemporary furnishings and decor with hints of the hotel's signature gray and orange. These are sleek spaces, with on-trend design elements like bleached out wood laminate floors, dark wood veneer paneling with high-contrast grain patterning, and a subtle vintage edge created with ornate metal chandeliers and black-and-white photography on the walls. There is also a Tower Suite which is a penthouse suite set over two levels with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and panoramic alpine views. All rooms have air-conditioning, underfloor heating, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and DVD players, minibars, and safes. Every room also has a kitchenette with modern appliances that include a toaster, microwave, electric range, kettle, and mini-fridge. Guest rooms look over the alpine gondola or the Remarkables Mountains. The bathrooms have a glass wall separating them from the main body of the room that's able to be closed off by a curtain. Many have a freestanding bath with separate shower, and look in all is a sharp white-on-white design scheme with a good amount of counter space and contemporary fixtures. The upstairs rooms also have a spectacular glass ceiling in the bathroom through which the largest mountain peak overlooking Queenstown can be seen.
