Sofitel Quiberon Diététique

This beautiful, ethereal hotel sits on a rocky seashore surrounded by grass and sand dunes. The bright white building is shaped like a soft arc, with the terrace of each room facing the water. Decor is in a pale, beachy palette that’s modern but not lacking in warmth or character. The lounge is a sun-filled space outfitted with espresso-colored tables and plush, high-back chairs where guests can gather in comfort. Le Delight restaurant is an upscale setting, but it also has a huge casual patio dotted with white umbrellas, and tables and chairs. The pool is partially enclosed in an expansive, window-filled space, and the circular outdoor portion is elevated to overlook the grounds. Clientele are couples and solo travelers looking to revel in a healthy, restful retreat and perhaps return lighter in spirit and body.

Sofitel Quiberon Diététique is located in the Brittany region of western France. It’s situated on the Wild Coast (or Côté Sauvage) of the Quiberon peninsula, which is a top-rated sightseeing point of the region. The area is filled with rocky beaches, natural coves, and fishing villages, making it a prime area for exploration on foot or bicycle. Given its beachfront location, the hotel is in a particularly remote area and maintains an aura of peace. Saint-Pierre-Quiberon is the peninsula’s largest village, and is about a 12-minute drive from the hotel. It's a tiny, buzzing modern metropolis packed with fish restaurants, galleries, and boutiques, and it makes for an entertaining change of pace from the Zen-like spaces of the hotel. There's year-round ferry service from Quiberon to Belle-Ile-en-Mer, Brittany's largest island about seven miles away, with beaches, cliffs, and beautiful towns. The closest major city to Quiberon is Vannes, which is about an hour's drive. 

This Sofitel's 76 rooms are like luxury retreats, with plenty of lounge space, sofas and chaises, and small dining tables. Even the smaller rooms have roomy terraces. The same neutral hues in the public spaces are present here in dove-gray loungers, tan upholstered headboards, and copper-hued consoles. Soft, recessed lights enhance the overall calm. All rooms have plush Sofitel-branded “MyBeds," iPod docks, flat-screen TVs,  free Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges stocked with a variety of water. Bathrooms are well-lit and come with luxury bath products and spa robes, rainfall showers, vessel sinks, and pristine, stainless-steel fixtures.

The focus here is on wellness, so the biggest draws are the carefully crafted meals from Le Delight and the in-depth treatments at the thalassotherapy spa. Therapeutic programs can last up to six days and include weight loss, detox, and rejuvenation plans. From beauty to fitness, guests have several choices for self-care and enrichment. Facilities also include an on-site tennis court and nine-hole golf course. The food at Le Delight skips many of the staples of traditional French cuisine (no butter or cream) and focuses on fruits, vegetables, and seafood. The alcohol-free bar specializes in smoothies and herbal teas. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms.
