Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel and Conference Center

Directly connected to Schiphol Airport by a covered walkway, the Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel is convenient for those with long layovers or early-morning flights. The hotel also draws a significant corporate presence that are making use of its extensive conference facilities. Everything is clean and contemporary here, although generic, including the vast atrium-style lobby filled with lots of metal, glass, and neutral-tone seating. Some character is provided with globe decor in the lobby Gate Lounge, black-and-white Amsterdam photos in the Club Lounge, and airplane murals and chalkboard menus at the Runway Cafe. Although the property can get busy with guests, the vibe is largely relaxed and quiet, despite the airport setting. 

The hotel is ideal for layover travelers or those with early-morning and late-night flights, given it's directly connected via covered walkway to the Schiphol Airport. In addition to being close to the on-site conference center, corporate travelers are just a two-minute walk from the WTC Schiphol Business & Conference Center. Dining and shopping is limited to the hotel and airport's offerings, but the airport has a good selection of bars and restaurants and the Schiphol Plaza Shopping Center is a three-minute walk from the hotel. The Schiphol train station is just a five-minute walk, where trains to downtown and area sights in around 30 to 40 minutes. On-site parking is available for a fee.

Rooms here are contemporary and clean-lined, albeit outfitted in a generic, corporate chain feel. Expect gray carpeting and armchairs, black-and-white wood furniture, and white walls. Plaid curtains and subtle accent wallpaper, and artwork with color add some personality. Lower-category Deluxe Rooms start at 26 square meters (280 square feet), and rooms go up to more spacious Suites and Family Rooms. All units have air-conditioning, comfy beds, mini-fridges, desks with chairs, HD plasma TVs, safes, and ironing facilities. Kettles are available on request, and only Suites have minibars. Despite the hotel's setting by the airport, plane noise is reportedly absent from rooms. Bathrooms across the board are great, featuring bathtubs and separate showers, plus bathrobes, slippers, hairdryers, and hotel-brand toiletries. Suites have living areas and BOSE sound systems. Views are of offices or the airport, including runway vistas in some rooms.

While some guests may be disappointed by the hotel's lack of a pool, other features are extensive and good-quality. Stripes Restaurant is open all day and has a make-your-own grill menu, while the Runway Café is a casual sports bar serving a full bar menu and dishes such as burgers and kids' chicken nuggets. Drinks can also be ordered all day at The Gate in the lobby. Room service is available 24/7. Those in Club-level rooms get access to a lounge serving free hot and cold breakfast buffets, all-day snacks, evening hors d'oeuvres, and a variety of beverages. There are also a sauna, steam room, and massage services, plus a 24-hour fitness center with modern equipment. The property's 30 meeting rooms can accommodate up to 550 people, and on-site parking is available for a fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, but guests have to keep logging in after a certain amount of time.
