The Palazzo di Valli is reached via a long brick entryway flanked with plants in terra-cotta pots, olive trees, and other Mediterranean greenery. The lobby has beautiful tile floors and a high ceiling bordered with intricate fresco work, with a wrought-iron chandelier at its center. There are sofas and chairs, and plenty of guidebooks and brochures to peruse. Outside the lobby is a panoramic terrace with bench and table seating, and views of the countryside. Most guests are adult tourists, as there's little in the way of business services or activities for children.

The Palazzo di Valli is just oustide Siena. It's a 10-minute drive or a 20-minute walk into town, which can also be reached by bus (the hotel's owner hands out free bus tickets). The Siena railway station can be reached by public transportation in about 40 minutes (or 10 minutes by car). The Siena Airport is a 20-minute drive away, and Florence and its airport are about an hour's drive.

The Palacco di Valli has 11 rooms, all of which come with free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning, as well as minibars and small desktop flat-screen TVs. Decor varies from room to room, but is generally rustic with well-maintained furniture and simple, unobtrusive art and mirrors on the wall. Some rooms have exposed beams or frescoes on the ceilings, and gorgeous views of the Italian countryside.
