Bottom Line
Dating back to 1769 when it first opened as a lodging house, the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa is a historic property set on 1,300 acres of spectacular grounds with the Green Mountains as a backdrop. This four-and-a-half-pearl resort, with 195 rooms, is a collection of five different buildings, including the 1811 House, once the home of Abraham Lincoln’s granddaughter. On-site is an 18-hole golf course, a 75-foot indoor swimming pool, full-service spa, and a fishing and shooting school. There’s a wide variety of accommodations available, and room sizes and amenities vary widely. Standard Rooms can be small, Townhouse Suites include full kitchens and fireplaces, and Dormy House is a self-contained three-bedroom house. The Green Mountains area doesn't lack for accommodations, but the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa is in a class of its own, with no other properties rivaling the architectural splendor, level of luxury, and amenities offered here.

Country charm and subdued elegance in a historical setting
A historic local landmark on Manchester Village’s main street, the main building of the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa is a white four-story building with large windows and green shutters. The other four buildings that make up the property follow the same historic style, each offering distinctive features like private porches, canopied beds, artworks and antiques, and open fireplaces. The atmosphere is a mix of country charm and subdued elegance. The reception area and interconnected rooms that are used as lounge spaces, as well as the impressive two-story-high Great Room, are dominated by pristine white-wood paneling on the walls and ceilings, and white French-style windows. There are many cozy sitting areas and lounges tucked away, including a pleasant library with comfy sofas arranged around a fireplace. The resort is a popular venue for weddings and special events, as well as business meetings and conferences. The property attracts a diverse clientele and is especially popular with couples and families.

The Golf Club is a five-minute walk away across the road. The American Museum of Fly Fishing is a 15-minute walk from the resort, while the Southern Vermont Arts Center is a seven-minute drive away. Rooms
A variety of accommodation options and styles
The resort's 195 rooms range from compact Standard Rooms to spacious suites to three-bedroom houses.
Some Standard Rooms, at 170 square feet, can be small, and their bathrooms, with marble top sinks, tub/shower combos, are snug. Deluxe and Superior Rooms are roomier, and have scenic views of Equinox Mountain, the resort grounds, or the surrounding village.
The Premiere Suites located in the charming 19th century Charles Orvis Inn, a separate building, are much more spacious and include a living and dining room, fully equipped kitchens, and cozy fireplaces. But the floors of this old building can be quite creaky and sound insulation is an issue here. 1811 House, which was once the home of Abraham Lincoln’s granddaughter, has 13 guest rooms which give the impression of being in an old country home, with open fireplaces and private porches. Another option is the resort's 30 town houses. The Dormy House is a self-contained three-bedroom house with a private patio decorated in a rustic country house style.
All the rooms and suites have amenities like air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and luxury toiletries in the bathrooms.
Features
Four restaurants, indoor pool and spa, on-site 18-hole golf course
The elegant Colonnade restaurant offers a wide variety of breakfast offerings (which incur an extra fee), while the March Tavern is open for lunch and dinner, and the Chop House is another dinner spot for steak lovers. The informal Falcon Bar is a cozy place for an evening drink or a snack. During the summer months, the Dormy Grill is an outdoor venue located on the deck of The Equinox Golf Club clubhouse, and is open for lunch and dinner. And 24-hour room service is available.
The stunning indoor pool area, surrounded on both sides by French doors, is pleasant and bright, and the 75-foot swimming pool is perfect for doing laps -- but it's also popular with young families. The on-site full-service spa offers a variety of wellness and beauty treatments. There's also an 18-hole golf course of The Equinox Golf Club, as well as a fishing and shooting school offering instructor-led sessions.
Other notable resort features include a fitness center, free self-parking and valet parking, a business center, Wi-Fi (included in resort fee), and a free shuttle service within the village.
