The Grand Hotel Verona is situated in a beautiful 20th-century Art Nouveau house from the 1930s, which was converted into a hotel in 1945, with continual updates and renovations keeping the hotel fresh and modern. A grand exterior features classic Liberty-style architectural features, such as arched windows, stone balconies, and decorative molding accented by deep red awnings and window shades. The lobby pairs red marble floors with modern white couches and antique wood furniture. The space is studded with sculptures and ornately framed paintings by famous artists, while glass cases showcase high-end souvenirs for sale. It either feels sophisticated or overdone with a hint of '80s glitz, depending on perspective. Conveniently located, this is a hot spot for tourists, especially couples, but it also attracts families and business travelers.

Grand Hotel Verona is situated on Corso Porta Nuova, a busy tree-lined avenue with shops and restaurants that leads to the popular Piazza Bra and the Arena di Vernoa, both about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Castelvecchio Museum is an 11-minute walk and Juliet’s balcony, also known as the Casa di Giulietta, is a 15-minute walk away. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the Porta Nuova train station. The Verona Villafranca Airport is about a 30-minute trip via public transportation, or a 20-minute drive. Venice Marco Polo Airport is about two hours away via public transportation, or a 75-minute drive. There is no on-site parking, though paid parking is available near the hotel. The hotel can arrange for car service or airport transportation, and offers free bike rentals. 

While the Grand Hotel Verona's 62 rooms vary in decor, they are tasteful and sophisticated with a neutral color palette of whites, browns, and grays. Standard Doubles pair natural-wood floors and furniture with white walls and white upholstered chairs, while gray fabric accents and black-and-white framed photographs add interesting touches. Bathrooms feature neutral beige or white tiling and include bidets, and showers or shower/tub combos.

All rooms feature individually controlled air-conditioning and heating, plus safes, pillow menus, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and free Wi-Fi. Minibars include free bottled water. There's no in-room coffee- or tea-making facilities, but coffee and tea are available in the lobby at no charge. Bathrooms include slippers, L'Occitane toiletries, and hairdryers. Upgraded rooms may include bathrobes, rainfall showerheads, sitting rooms, balconies, four-poster beds, and iPod docks. Rooms range from tiny, entry-level Single Rooms to Suites and Exclusive Rooms. Rooms, which are well-insulated from street noise,  verlook the avenue or courtyard. 

This is a small hotel, and on-site facilities are limited -- there's no restaurant or gym. There's a small but nice lobby bar that serves drinks and a nice selection of canapes, and a pleasant breakfast room with lots of seating. The breakfast buffet is included in the room rate, and offers a range of hot and cold choices, such as cereal, meats, cheeses, fruit, and scrambled eggs. Coffee, tea, and light snacks are on hand throughout the day at no extra charge. A pleasant courtyard and garden offers outdoor seating. 

The hotel also has several meeting and event rooms that include catering services and audiovisual equipment. A computer and printer are available in the lobby for guests' use, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. The staff is quick to offer recommendations, reservations, ticket assistance, and arrange for laundry service, childcare, car or taxi service, massages, or airport transportation. The hotel has board games for kids and free bike rentals. There's no on-site parking, though paid parking is available nearby.
