The 88-room Ocean Manor Resort is a budget option located on the beach in northern Fort Lauderdale. Rooms fall into two categories: renovated and un-renovated. Un-renovated rooms have few amenities and dated decor; bathrooms have old fixtures and tiles. Renovated rooms, like the penthouse, are much more modern and appealing. In 2012, a few more rooms underwent renovation on the Travel Channel show Hotel Impossible, receiving contemporary artwork, crisp white linens, and in some cases, fresh coats of paint. However, the old tube TVs and some worn furnishings remain. Hotel features include free Wi-Fi, a nice pool, and airport shuttle on request (for a fee). There's also a decent sushi bar and a tiki bar that draws the locals. While this hotel has certainly seen better days, it is an average pick for a budget traveler that wants to be on the beach.

The Ocean Manor Resort is located right on a white-sand beach off N. Ocean Boulevard, the main strip of beach hotels in Fort Lauderdale. The property is sandwiched between other oceanfront resorts and close to restaurants and a few stores, but the Fort Lauderdale action is a few minutes south. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, a wildlife preserve, is an easy drive away.
