On Gran Via, a historic avenue in the heart of Madrid
Gran Via is one of the most iconic avenues in Madrid, with beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture, designer boutiques, hotels, and lots of traffic. This location is ideal for those visitors who want to explore the sights on foot and take in Madrid’s lively yet laid-back ambiance. Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Cibeles, the grand Palacio de Comunicaciones, Puerta de Alcala, and Retiro park are all within easy walking distance. Chueca, the hopping gay neighborhood, full of intimate restaurants, bars, and cool shops is just across the street from the hotel.
This avenue is one of the main thoroughfares in central Madrid, so expect crowds and traffic day and night. The subway, bus, and even the train are nearby, but most attractions are within an easy walking distance from Hostal Hispano-Argentino.
The Hispano Argentino is a no-frills budget hostel in the heart of Madrid. The location on Gran Via is great for exploring the city on foot and public transportation is nearby. Rooms are small and come with flat-screen TVs and empty mini-fridges, but decor is dated and some guests complain about thin walls. The hotel does offer free Wi-Fi and all rooms have private bathrooms. A perk here is a nice covered terrace filled with greenery where guests can socialize in the evenings. Another nearby option is the charming Ada Palace, located across the street, offering more upscale rooms for similar prices.
