This 250-room Hilton has the standard amenities one would expect to find in an upper-middle-range chain hotel in the area, like a decent fitness center, a nice restaurant/bar, and a large, relaxing pool, but the rooms -- while spacious and clean -- aren't outstanding. The decor is a little outdated, and the standard rooms don't come with mini-fridges (the Junior Suites do). The rooms all do have HD flat-screen TVs, but you have to pay to use the in-room Wi-Fi.

The Hilton Sonoma Wine Country is located in the northern edge of busy Santa Rosa. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, and a great golf course very close by, but not much else in the immediate neighborhood. But the hotel is right off Highway 101, which connects most of the towns in Sonoma Valley, so it's a convenient place to be.
Santa Rosa might not be the prettiest city in Sonoma County, but it is the largest and most convenient if you are planning a trip that does not involve only wine-tasting. The downtown area is full of department stores, restaurants, bars, hotels and office buildings, making it the only real town in the area. It’s also the most kid-friendly place in the region, with an amusement park and an ice arena right in town. It may lack the charm of smaller towns like Healdsburg or St. Helena, but it offers easy access to some of the most popular wine-tasting destinations, and is conveniently located equidistant from San Francisco and Oakland airports.
