Locanda Sant’Agostin

Located in a former private residence, Locanda Sant’Agostin is a small, quiet hotel with charming classic decor. In a narrow stone alleyway, a green door with a brass knocker marks the entrance to the property. Inside, a marble staircase leads up to the lobby, where tasteful furnishings include a tapestry rug, parquet floors, chandeliers, and large oil paintings that combine to give the space its Old World appeal. Large windows framed by heavy drapes fill the room with natural light. The lobby shares space with the breakfast area, where tables are covered with red and gold jacquard linens and elegant wooden chairs with damask upholstery. Overall, this is a small and cozy property, and though there aren't any features or on-site facilities, the convenient central location is ideal for tourist couples and families seeking to explore the city on foot.

The hotel is located in the quiet, residential area of San Polo -- the oldest district in Venice. Campo San Polo, which the district is named for, is a three-minute walk from here. There are several restaurants within a five-minute walk, and it’s around a 10-minute walk to the bars and restaurants in Santa Margherita Square. Many tourist attractions are within walking distance, such as the Rialto Bridge, which is 11 minutes away, and the Basilica Frari, which can be reached in five minutes. The nearest vaporetto stop is a five-minute walk away, giving access to popular sites like Piazza San Marco (16-minutes away) and the Bridge of Sighs (17-minutes away). Alternatively, Piazza San Marco can be reached on foot in just over 15 minutes as well. The main train station is an 11-minute walk away, while Marco Polo Airport takes 15 minutes to reach by car or 40 minutes by public transportation.

Rooms at Locanda Sant’Agostin are clean and classic, with an Old World look achieved by employing a variety of accents that include tufted headboards with gold lacquered trim and decorative curtains with gold fringe. Rooms have light-colored walls and the nicest ones have lovely parquet floors (other have somewhat dowdy granite floors). Dark wood furniture looks sharp against white or cream yellow walls, which are sparingly hung with still lifes or framed mirrors. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, air-conditioning, and minibars lightly stocked with water and beer. Some rooms have small balconies with canal views while others have windows that face exterior walls an unfortunately get little natural sunlight. Marble bathrooms have stand-up showers or shower/tub combinations, as well as heated towel racks, bidets, and generous amenity kits with Prija toiletries. 

This small hotel doesn't offer many amenities, but a free breakfast including items like cereals, croissants, fruit, yogurt, ham, and cheese is provided, and guests can opt to dine in their rooms for no extra charge. Guests also appreciate the cappuccinos and hot chocolate that are available. Reception is open 24-hours a day, and assistance with booking, babysitting, and tours is available. Wi-Fi is free throughout. Guests should note that there is no elevator here and the hotel is located on the second floor.
