Winter Activities for Kids in Boston

Ice skating on Frog Bond, Boston Common, Boston

Boston can be very cold and windy in the heart of the winter, but there are plenty of things that you can still do with your kids. Here are a few suggestions:

Ice Skate: There are lots of places to ice skate in Boston, but none as popular as the Frog Pond right in the center of the Boston Common. If you stay at the Ritz-Carlton Boston or the Four Seasons Boston, you’ll be just a few steps away. Prefer something a little more off the beaten path? The Charles Hotel in Cambridge also has their own ice skating rink as a wonderful winter guest amenity.

The Children’s Museum Boston: The Children’s Museum in Boston is a great place to get your kids to explore, discover, and burn energy. After its renovation several years ago, it’s now someplace that you can truly spend the whole day. Consider staying nearby, at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel or the Seaport Hotel Boston.

Free Movies on Fridays at the Museum of Science: Thanks to MathWorks, the Mugar Omni Theater at the Museum of Science is offering free movies on Fridays in January. If you are considering staying for the weekend, the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge is just a few minutes away.
