Hotel Regnum Residence

The hotel has a welcoming, casual atmosphere, while still having a sophisticated aesthetic. Its modern lobby has red walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, tiled ceilings, light-blue glossy columns, and white and brown leather chairs dispersed throughout the room. The front desk is made of multicolored slats of wood, giving it a contemporary look, and sits in front of a wall with clocks displaying the time in major cities around the world. While it certainly has a business hotel vibe, its proximity to major Budapest attractions draws a fair few leisure travelers. 

The hotel is located on the Buda side of the Danube, on a quiet street that's off-limits to cars. It is near the northern edge of Watertown, a neighborhood along the river and to the northeast of Castle Hill, Buda's most historic (and more popular) neighborhood. It just a two-minute walk to the Kiraly Baths, an 11-minute walk to Gul Baba's tomb (to the north), and there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. It's a bit of a trek to some of Castle Hill's most popular sights -- about 25 minutes on foot to Buda Castle (which can be reached by car or bus in about 10 minutes, though note that private cars are not allowed in Castle Hill -- only taxis and buses). 

It's an eight-minute drive to St. Stephen's Basilica and Vorosmarty ter and a nine-minute drive to the Hungarian State Opera House. The Parliament Building is an eight-minute drive away and the Szechenyi Chain Bridge takes about 20 minutes to reach on foot (or five minutes by car). The airport is a half-hour drive away. 

The rooms at the hotel are large, with sophisticated, modern decor, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Rooms have a contemporary look, with patterned burnt-orange carpets, gray walls with stenciled-on designs, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sleek dark-wood furniture. Beds are reportedly comfortable, although some rooms have two twin beds pushed together. All rooms have large private terraces with wicker furniture, as well as flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, electric kettles with coffee and tea, and safes. Some of the Suites have separate living rooms with sofas, desks, and TVs. Bathrooms are contemporary with slate tiles, glass-walled walk-in showers, hairdryers, and luxury toiletries. 

The hotel features a large casual restaurant with an outdoor terrace that's open to outside and overnight guests. It serves buffet breakfast and a la carte lunches, but is closed for diner. The sophisticated lobby bar serves cocktails, coffee, and tea. There are also two conference rooms and a computer in the lobby for guest use. The hotel also has a large parking lot, an added convenience as parking in central Budapest can be expensive and hard to come by.
