Aqua Hotel Promenade

Occupying a six-story cream-colored building, this three-pearl hotel is similar to many other properties in the area. It's average in terms of style, but still pleasant with clean, contemporary interiors marked by natural light thanks to large windows as well as pops of bright color, like shiny red accent walls in the neutral-hued lobby and cherry-colored seats in the bar. The clientele is mainly European, with lots of Russians in particular as well as English, Spanish, and others seeking a beachy break. The hotel attracts a mix of couples and families with kids.

The hotel is situated across the street from the beach and just a block away from the Pineda de Mar train station (a two-minute walk). Train tracks, which can be crossed via underground passage, run along the beach. A coastal town about an hour's drive east of Barcelona (or about an 80-minute train ride), Pineda de Mar is a popular beach destination for those looking to escape Barcelona while still maintaining proximity. There are several other hotels lining the street, as well as many restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. Area attractions include Marineland Catalunya, a water park that's about a 15-minute drive from the hotel, and Museu del Turisme, which can be reached in around 10 minutes by car. Girona-Costa Brava Airport is around a 40-minute drive from the hotel, while Barcelona's airport can be reached in about an hour.

Rooms here feature pleasant contemporary decor with wooden or tiled floors, off-white walls, and simple furniture that's either wooden or painted white. Beds are topped with plain neutral-hued bedspreads and photographs or simple modern art pieces adorn the walls. Glass doors open onto private furnished balconies, many with lovely sea views. All rooms have desks as well as armchairs. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, safes, air-conditioning/heating, and free Wi-Fi, but there are no tea/coffee-making facilities. Junior Suites add sofa beds, while the Duplex Suites have separate living areas with sofas. Family Rooms that sleep up to four people are available. Contemporary bathrooms feature gray tiling and white marble sink vanities, and they're equipped with shower/tub combos. Superior Room bathrooms are larger and a bit more attractive, with large slate tiling and mosaic tiling in the walk-in showers. Wall-mounted hairdryers and toiletries come standard. 

The hotel has a small outdoor pool that's surrounded by loungers as well as chairs and tables, plus there's an even smaller kids' pool. Besides the pool, families are catered to with a kids' club, plus there's an animation team that provides entertainment and organizes activities for kids and adults throughout the day and evening. 

The hotel has a buffet-style restaurant that serves international fare and does a good job catering to different food sensitivities. Breakfast is included in all rates and features hot items as well as a variety of fruit, cereals, pastries, bread, and more. Half- and full-board plans are also available, as is room service. There's also a pleasant cafe/bar on-site, which serves drinks, snacks, and ice cream. This area also has a game area with a pool table, arcade games, and a computer. The bar has a small stage for evening performances and live music. Several tables out on the sidewalk offer outdoor seating.

There's a fitness center on-site that offers several cardio machines, along with a massage room. Other features include meeting and event space, free Wi-Fi throughout the property, and on-site parking for a charge.
