The five-pearl Breidenbacher Hof is a
luxurious destination hotel right on the city's high-end shopping avenue, the Konigsallee. The 106 rooms are large and elegant but trendy and all have marble bathrooms, minibars with free
soft drinks, and touch panels used to control the room features. Luxury amenities include a romantic restaurant, pool, and trendy bar, not to mention a cigar
lounge, private access to two medical clinics, a perfume shop, and posh meeting
rooms. Travelers
might also want to consider the Hyatt Regency Dusseldorf for its spectacular
views of the Rhine and free shuttle service to downtown.
Scene
Elegant luxury hotel popular with vacationing couples and business travelers
Built in 1812, the Breidenbacher Hof was shut down for a few years in the early 2000s and
reopened in 2008. The lobby’s marble front desk, floor, and sweeping
staircase, glass chandeliers, and multiple seating areas with sleek wooden
furniture and sophisticated armchairs creates an impressive and luxurious effect. The grand
style is carried over to the Victorian-inspired restaurant, which has marble
earthen-colored columns and pristine table settings. Its trendy bar has a glass ceiling and walls and zebra print chairs. Breidenbacher Hof is popular with both vacationing couples and business travelers.
Location
Located on the Konigsallee and within walking distance of public transportation and the Rhine
Amidst high-end boutiques on the Konigsallee, also known as the Ko,
sits the Breidenbacher Hof, a Capella Hotel. Shopping and upscale restaurants on surrounding streets are mere minutes’ away on foot, as is the Heinrich-Heine-Allee metro stop across
the street. A stroll to the Rhine river and the adjacent Rhine promenade takes nine minutes
on foot. The Filmmuseum Dusseldorf is an eight-minute walk from the hotel,
while the Kunsthalle Dusseldorf, an art museum, is a five-minute walk. It’s
a 12-minute drive to Dusseldorf
International Airport.
Rooms
Spacious rooms with free soft drinks, touch control panels, and luxurious bathrooms
The Breidenbacher Hof's 106 rooms and suites are large and luxurious, but decor varies a bit. Some have a classical
style with golden tones, sophisticated patterns, and deep cherry wood furniture, while others are slightly trendier with reflective four-poster beds,
fun modern patterns, and chic chaise lounges. Each room has a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, a coffeemaker, a minibar with free drinks, and a
bedside touch panel that controls the room features including lighting,
temperature, and drapes. Many of the Suites have marble fireplaces and living
rooms, and some have dining rooms and outdoor balconies. Standard Rooms have walk-in Rainforest showers, while Suites
come with deep tubs, some with jets, separate glass showers, and -- in some -- double vanities. High-end toiletries go beyond the L’Occitane products provided to also include body care items such as shaving kits, shower caps, and extra toothbrushes.
Features
Pool, fitness center, restaurant, cigar lounge, event spaces, and private access to medical clinics
True to the luxury nature of the hotel, the wellness
spa area has an indoor heated pool surrounded by plush chaise lounges. There are also two saunas and a steam bath. The 24-hour fitness center is windowless but modern with cardio machines with TVs, plus some weight machines and
free weights. The romantic, Victorian-style Brassie “1806” serves
local and French cuisine, including fresh seafood. It’s open from breakfast
to dinner, though breakfast is not included in room rates. The hotel also pays homage to the past with its suave cigar lounge
that has a glass room filled with boxes of cigars. The Capella
Living Room is a lounge with a small library and offers free soft drinks, tea, and coffee, iPads
for guest use, and a public computer. A lobby lounge serves an afternoon tea
and homemade cakes. Apart from the sophisticated parlors, there are four
fully equipped function spaces for meetings or weddings, plus the option of
renting the first floor to accommodate up to 350 guests. There’s also a perfume
shop, Schnitzler, and a beauty lounge that sells makeup and provides facial
treatments. Private access from the hotel to Preventicum, a preventative
medicine clinic, and Pearl of Asthetic, a cosmetic and plastic surgery clinic,
is a convenient amenity for guests undergoing treatments. Other perks include free Wi-Fi throughout the property
and a chauffeur service and valet parking for a fee.
