Bottom Line

The InterContinental is an attractive business hotel on the Right Bank, within walking distance of government buildings, international organizations, and several museums and parks. As one would expect from the brand, there are impressive amenities: a restaurant and two bars, a Clarins spa, a well-equipped 24-hour fitness center, 16 meeting rooms, and an outdoor pool. But while its common areas wow with their high design (Woods restaurant is beautiful, as is the sleek lobby), the contemporary rooms feel chain-like, with bare walls and blonde, IKEA-esque wood furniture. They're still upscale, though, with comfortable beds, marble bathrooms, and flat-screen TVs; accent walls provide a pop of color.

Hotel InterContinental Geneve

Location

Just a short walk from the heart of Paquis-Nations, home to numerous international organizations and government buildings

The InterContinental is located on the Right Bank, right on the edge of Palais-Nations. It is within walking distance of the major train station, as well as numerous international organizations and several museums.

Geneva is a picturesque city, divided into two banks by Lake Geneva, and surrounded by mountains. During the winters, visitors and locals head to the mountains to ski; ski resorts such as Verbier and Crans-Montana are conveniently only about an hour from the heart of the city. And in the summertime, the lake -- and nearby beaches -- become popular spots for swimming. But all year long, tourists can enjoy the city's cafe culture (reminiscent of Paris), beautiful gardens, specialty shops (the city is known for its gorgeous jewelry and watches), fabulous restaurants, and many sights.

  • 11-minute drive to the Geneva International Airport
  • 6-minute walk to the Red Cross Museum (in a business area of Geneva)

  • 16-minute walk to Jardin Botanique, home to a small zoo

  • 20-minute walk to the banks of Lake Geneva for a view Jet d'Eau, the tallest fountain in the world
  • 21-minute walk to the Museum of History and Sciences, or an 8-minute drive
  • 5-minute drive to Bains des Paquis beach
  • 7-minute drive to the Jardin Anglais, with the famous flower clock, or 30 minutes via public transportation
  • 8-minute drive to Place de Saint-Gervais, where jewelry and watch shops are concentrated, or 17 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to Geneve Plage beach, or 52 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute drive to the St. Pierre Cathedral, or 32 minutes via public transportation
