Bottom Line

The 250-room Chelsea
Cloisters is an upper-mid-range serviced apartment property with a polished,
contemporary design. Modern units have fully equipped kitchens,
washer/dryers, large windows, and tile bathrooms and daily housekeeping is included in room rates. However,
some units get loud exterior noise and have worn furnishings. All of the on-site
restaurants and bars receive good reviews, and there is a hair salon on the property. However, there's a daily fee for Wi-Fi and parking in the on-site underground lot costs
extra. As an alternative, the Hotel Indigo London-Paddington presents a more fashion-forward option, though rates tend to be higher.

Scene

Large family-run hotel with a modern, polished design

This family-run property
is situated in a 1930s building, but has a modern, upscale design throughout. Although
the exterior is dominated by cement and brick, white marble floors and yellow leather
tufted sofas adorn the more refined lobby, which features white paneling on the front
desk and white columns. Hallways have red carpets and dim lighting and are decorated with black-and-white photography on the walls. Guests tend to be families and couples, though the occasional business traveler and solo traveler also stay here.

Location

Located in Chelsea, near the tube station and the Natural History Museum

The Chelsea Cloisters is situated on
a busy road with plenty of upscale shops, restaurants, and cafes. The South Kensington Underground
Station and Brompton Oratory are a five-minute walk away, while the Natural History Museum, the London Science
Museum, Sloane Square, and Saatchi Gallery are all around a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Beauchamp Place as well as the Victoria and Albert Museum are also about a
10-minute walk from the property, while Harrods takes 15 minutes. Heathrow Airport can be reached in about 45 minutes on the tube.

Rooms

Contemporary apartments with fully equipped kitchens and stylish tile bathrooms

Chelsea Cloisters offers basic Studio through Two-Bedroom
Apartments and though some units have large windows that let in lots of natural light, there have been complaints of noisy and/or dimly lit units. Living areas have neutral futons, wood furniture, and
flat-screen TVs while dining areas have wood chairs and tables. Some also have sofa beds. White subway
tiles and black countertops decorate the fully equipped kitchens, which come outfitted with microwaves, coffeemakers, small ovens, mini-fridges, toasters, stoves, and washer/dryers. Daily housekeeping is included in room rates. The bedrooms have a neutral look, with wood furniture and a few pieces of colorful artwork on the walls. Stylish bathrooms have either walk-in showers or shower/tub combos covered in light tile along with
white sinks and heated towel racks, but some lack counter space.

Features

Two on-site restaurants, two bars, plus 24-hour concierge; fee for Wi-Fi and parking

Argentinian cuisine
including steak, fish, chicken, and an a la carte menu are offered at Gaucho
while Sushi des Artistes has Japanese dishes including sushi, sashimi, and noodle
dishes served with beer and wine. Small plates plus cocktails, tea, coffee, wine, and
beer are served at Barts Bar while Galante Bar has vintage and modern
Argentinian cocktails, and small plates. All food and drinks receive good
reviews. Both the front desk and concierge are open 24/7 and there is an on-site
beauty salon, Vivify. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property for a daily fee, and there's an underground parking lot on-site but it costs extra.
