Raices Aconcagua

There's not much to distinguish the Raices Aconcagua from its mid-range competition in town, though things here are pleasantly modern and the location is central. Guests enter the up-to-date lobby, with a gleaming tile floor and golden walls. White sofas, loveseats, and chairs are scattered around the space, providing seating areas where guests can hang out. A large black-and-white photo of Mount Aconcagua hangs overhead, and the hotel also displays original artwork by local artist Luis Quesada. Outside, guests can visit a small vineyard, where a variety of grapes are grown, and there's a patio with tables and chairs and adjacent green space. With its excellent location and adequate amenities, this hotel draws a variety of leisure travelers, as well as business guests. 

This hotel has a prime location in the city center, with many other hotels, restaurants, wine bars, and shops surrounding it. Plaza Italia, one of the most beautiful squares in the city, is just half a block away, and guests can walk to the main square, Plaza Independencia, in six minutes. Teatro Independencia, the city's main performing arts venue, can be reached in seven minutes on foot, and the Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno is just a five-minute walk from the property. Parque General San Martin is a 30-minute walk or 10-minute drive. Plan on about 20 minutes to reach Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport by car, or an hour by public transportation. 

Rooms are modern and simple, but mostly pleasant considering this hotel's price point. Keep in mind that floor plans vary, and entry-level rooms (like Classic Rooms) can be quite small. You'll get more space in Suites and Family Plan rooms. The style is attractive, with sober earthy hues and wood accents that seem appropriate for this region of Argentina that's famous for its terroir. Amenities in all rooms include flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Air-conditioning is available, but contingent upon the season and temperatures outside. Upgraded rooms feature wood floors, and some include wet bars with microwaves and kettles for tea and coffee. Family Plan units have two bedrooms. Some rooms offer views of downtown Mendoza or the Andes Mountain foothills, or overlook the pool. Suites come with kitchenettes and living and dining space. Compact bathrooms include bidets, toiletries, hairdryers, and shower/tub combos.

This hotel provides the basics for a comfortable leisure or business stay. A free breakfast buffet is served daily in a sunny space with wine barrel decor -- appropriate for Mendoza, after all. Limited breakfast selections include fruits, cold meats, cheeses, breads, and cereals. No other meals are served on-site, though a Fresh Market convenience store in the lobby offers snacks, beverages, salads, and sandwiches to go. 

The rectangular outdoor pool is larger than most in the area, and it has a separate shallow section for children. Lounge chairs are lined up on one side and dining tables and chairs on the other. A few umbrellas provide shade, as does the adjacent building. The small fitness center is sunny and includes a stationary bike, elliptical, and treadmill, plus a weight training machine. 

The business center also is sunny, with desks positioned in front of windows. Three computers are available for guests to use. Meeting space can accommodate up to 500 people. A hop on-hop off bus service is available to take guests to nearby wineries and vineyards. and there's a travel kiosk in the lobby. On-site parking is available for a fee, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
