Bottom Line

Emerald Isle is one of a string of high-rise resorts in Panama City. As with most condo resorts in the area, individual unit decor varies greatly and can set the tone of a visit. The bones of the rooms are good, and include spacious kitchens and large, rounded balconies. However, amenities are sparse. There is a small gym but no restaurant or shop -- though a grocery store is nearby. Visitors that want to take advantage of the kitchen might also appreciate the beachside barbecue area with gas grills for guests. The most common complaints here are about parking issues and the small pools, but the direct access to a white-sand beach and the Gulf views are outstanding assets.

Emerald Isle Resort and Condominiums

Location

Right on the Gulf and near area attractions

Emerald Isle is a fine spot to experience Panama City's activities. Though a car is an absolute necessity, shopping, dining, and entertainment are all close by. Pier Park, a water park, and great golf course are within a 10-minute drive and there are many more attractions within a 20-minute drive.

Panama City is a Florida family beach town with all that implies. The area is full of put-put golf, amusement parks, shopping, and the beautiful St. Andrews State Park. The park has the virtues of white sand beaches, nature trails, and plenty of opportunities for water sports. Panama City also has a downtown area with more vintage charm than most similar beach towns. Downtown, visitors can find seasonal events and art shows as well as live music and shopping.

  • 23-minute drive to NW Florida Beaches International Airport
  • 3-minute drive to the Museum of Man and the Sea
  • 4-minute drive to Gulf World amusement park
  • 5-minute drive to Pier Park
  • 9-minute drive to Shipwreck Island Water park
  • 9-minute drive to Holiday Golf Club -- a scenic, semi-private 18-hole course
  • 9-minute drive to Carillon Beach
  • 10-minute drive to the Nicklaus course at Bay Point Resort -- one of the most challenging courses in the United States
  • 21-minute drive to fresh produce and ferry rides at St. Andrews Waterfront Farmers Market
  • 25-minute drive to downtown Panama City
  • 28-minute drive to boating fishing and perfect picnic spots at St. Andrews State Park
