Hotel King David

Hotel King David is housed in an elegant five-story neoclassical building located on a busy street corner. The entrance is through a set of large double doors and up a staircase to the reception area. Renovated in 2014, the hotel is well-maintained and the ambience is elegant and tasteful, with white marble floors, high ceilings, and chandeliers. A cafe and lobby bar, with high-backed purple velour armchairs, serves snacks, sandwiches, desserts, and wines. The hotel's main restaurant, Kosher Le Mehadrin, is known for its high-quality buffets and Shabbat meals. The hotel is popular with couples and families, especially those seeking to keep kosher while traveling. 

Hotel King David is located on the corner of a busy intersection. Most of the major attractions, such as Prague Castle and the Old Jewish Cemetery, aren't in walking distance and require a taxi or a ride on public transportation. However, transportation links are excellent -- the main train and bus station is almost next door, and no fewer than three subway stations are within walking distance.

The Hotel King David Prague's 68 rooms, which include suites, are spacious and bright, with high ceilings and subdued but elegant decor. The color palette is neutral, with violet accents. Walls in soft beige, gray wall-to-wall carpeting, and headboards in beige faux leather give the rooms a certain softness, while dark-wood furniture adds contrast. Royal-purple bedspreads, pillows, velour armchairs or sofas provide a dash of color and personality. 

All rooms and suites come with adjustable air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs (with an Israeli channel), free Wi-Fi, minibars, electric kettles, espresso machines, and safes. Standard Deluxe Rooms come with king beds or two twins, and while their bathrooms are small, they have marble-topped vanities and Natural Philosophy toiletries. All bathrooms have shower/tub combos fitted with rainfall showerheads, magnifying mirrors, hairdryers, and towel warmers.

Executive Rooms and Suites add bathrobes and slippers, free spa entry (excluding the mikvah), and L'Occitane toiletries. Boutique Suites can sleep up to four, and have sofas. Junior Suites have whirlpool tubs and separate showers. Guests staying in Executive Rooms or Suites have free access to the spa and pool, and a free massage when booking directly through the hotel's website. 

Billing itself as Prague's only kosher hotel, the luxury King David serves a wide-ranging buffet breakfast of hot and cold items, all prepared under daily Masghiach supervision. The buffet includes various breads, cakes, cereals, salads, cut vegetables, cheeses, fish, fruit, eggs, potatoes, pasta, quiche, and pancakes. Guests also have a half-board option, with a kosher buffet dinner served in the evenings. A buffet lunch is also available for an extra charge, and a weekly Shabbat dinner and lunch are served as well. The lobby cafe and bar offers snacks, sandwiches, desserts, and hot and cold drinks, including alcohol, throughout the day. 

Access to the spa, small pool, and whirlpool comes with a fee, except for guests staying in the Executive Rooms and Suites. The pool and spa area is decorated in elegant beige marble, and it has a shower area. Men and women use the pool at different times. A small fitness corner includes weight-lifting equipment, a treadmill, a stationary bike, an elliptical trainer, and free weights. The spa includes three treatment rooms, where guests can have a variety of massages. (Guests booking the Executive Rooms or Suites via the hotel website get a free 30-minute massage.) This area also houses a mikvah for the ritual immersion bath. The hotel has an on-site synagogue, too. 

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, and a computer is available for guests' use in the lobby. Off-site parking and limousine service are available for a fee.
