The 539-room Corinthia Hotel Prague is a huge, business-oriented hotel located off the 5
Kvetna highway in a commercial district with few sights within walking distance. Room design is a bit plain for the hotel's luxury status;
however, upgraded rooms have lounge access, leather massage chairs, and
espresso machines. Most rooms have marvelous views of Prague, but others
suffer traffic noise from the freeway. What makes this hotel stand out are special amenities such as the top floor indoor pool with panoramic views, modern fitness
center with various equipment, and spa with sauna and steam room. Free Wi-Fi
and train station pick up are available, but to gain access to the spa, many
guests will have to pay a daily fee. Varied breakfast, lunch, dinner, and
drinks options are available on-site including the award-winning Rickshaw, but
there are fees for parking and airport transportation.
Scene
A classic and elegant business-leaning hotel with gorgeous views
In a 26-story building high above Prague,
the views from the Corinthia Hotel Prague are striking from the restaurants, the rooms, and the pool.
The entrance to this hotel is below street level, making it feel more intimate
than the bustling surrounding business area, and the classic staircase in the lobby
gives off an air of grandeur. Free newspapers, coffee, and tea are available while the grounds lead to an underground metro station. Each of the dining areas at this hotel is unique. Bamboo chairs and lantern light fixtures adorn Rickshaw while neutral tones and a wood buffet area cover Let’s Eat. The Grill includes a large brick oven and colorful chairs while Cafe Praha is subdued with cozy brown leather and wicker chairs. Blue Note Bar includes swirling carpet and plush furniture along with mid-tone wood floors. Floor-to ceiling windows decorate almost every eating area to highlight the sights and offer natural light. The refined decor creates a comfy and open atmosphere despite the hotel’s large size.
Location
In the business district; next to 5 Kvetna
The Corinthia
Hotel Prague is located in the business district. The hotel has its own road leading to one of the main highways in Prague, 5
Kvetna. The Prague Congress Centre, Vysehrad Castle, and public transportation
are within walking distance, but more popular attractions such as Old Town, the
Charles Bridge, and the Prague State Opera are a 10- to 20-minute metro ride away. The hotel has many dining and drinking options, but can feel isolated for guests that want to explore beyond the hotel.
Rooms
Simple rooms with striking views
Rooms are pretty basic with the classic hotel feel that’s often edging on dated. Although the views
from the large windows are sensational, the tan carpets, bed runners, and
drapes are neutral while the artwork is nondescript. Coffeemakers rest on the wood
desk area, as do the flat-screen TVs. Some rooms feature free bottled water,
robes, slippers, and lounge access. Upgraded rooms have high-end black
leather massage chairs and espresso machines. Minibars are tucked away in the
closet space while Corinthia Dream Beds receive great reviews. Faux marble
countertops in the bathroom accompanied by pink tile are a bit older, but some
bathrooms include updated glass bowl sinks and large tan tile. All have ESPA
Collection or Vive amenities. Even though there are some great perks in
upgraded rooms, the plain style seems lacking for an upscale hotel.
Features
Top floor pool with panoramic views plus several excellent on-site eateries
The top feature of the Corinthia Hotel
Prague is the top floor indoor pool housed in the Apollo Day Spa. Huge
floor-to-ceiling windows provide gorgeous views of Prague. There are striped lounge chairs in addition to a shower with a rainfall showerhead. The Apollo Day Spa has a large, contemporary fitness center with different types of equipment in
addition to a beautiful sauna and steam room. Treatment rooms have gray
speckled granite countertops and wood floors while the hair salon provides
manicure and make-up services. Guests staying in Business, Executive, or Suite
rooms can access the Apollo Day Spa for free, but others must pay a daily fee. An abundance of eating options are also
available at this hotel. Let’s Eat serves a breakfast buffet; Cafe Praha provides a light lunch with tea/coffee, pastries, and salads; The Grill offers international food on a charcoal grill; and the award-winning Rickshaw features
Asian-style dinners. All receive excellent reviews. The Blue Note Bar (wines,
beer, cocktails) has live music every week and the Executive Club and
Business lounges have lots of snacks. Only certain room types have lounge
access, which includes more views, tan suede seating with purple pillows, and
access to the business room (computers, printer, faxing, and copying). Concierge
services and 24-hour room service are on-site as is parking, but all parking
incurs a fee.
