Though the close proximity to the Naval Station means there are often government and business travelers as well.

For those who prefer a more historic vibe during their stay at Newport, consider Inn on Bellevue in the heart of Historic District. 

Located on the outskirts of Newport in the neighboring town of Middletown. There are a few shopping centers and stores within a five- to 10-minute walk from the hotel. The shopping centers have laundromats, grocery stores, and a few restaurants. The Newport State Airport is a four-minute drive from the motel. Based on the motel’s location, travelers should note that a car would be almost a requirement for getting around. 

Travelodge is within relatively easy driving distance of popular downtown tourist attractions. Bowen’s Wharf and the bustling downtown waterfront area are a 20-minute drive from the motel. The Historic District of Newport and Top of Newport -- the highest point in Newport -- are a 13-minute drive from the Travelodge. Travelers should note that it's often easier to find parking along the side streets in the Historic District, and much of Newport is within easy walking distance from there. 

The popular Easton’s Beach is a 15-minute drive and features a few parking lots as well as a snack bar. Adjacent to Easton’s Beach is the Cliff Walk -- a three-and-a-half mile walkway -- bordering the ocean with stunning views of historic mansions. For history buffs, the Naval War College Museum is a 12-minute drive on Coasters Harbor Island. The International Tennis Hall of Fame is a 15-minute drive from the motel. The Naval Station Newport Pass and ID is a 10-minute drive away. 

There are 75 rooms at the Travelodge Middletown, and all of them are spacious. Some rooms are enclosed in the main lobby building but most are spread away from the main building and bi-level via exterior hallways. Rooms feature the same mismatched decor throughout of plaid carpeting, blue walls, and maroon bedspreads. The rooms come with king, queen, or two double-size beds bedecked with wooden headboards.

Features include flat-screen TVs, microwaves, coffeemakers, free Wi-Fi, and mini-fridges. All rooms have plenty of storage space with closets and a few drawers. A small work desk is provided. Travelers can expect standard amenities of an ironing board, hairdryers, and safe. Bathrooms are spacious and most come with a shower/tub combo. There is plenty of vanity space and towels in the bathrooms, as well as toiletries. Some of the second floor rooms feature small furnished balconies.
