Asia Divers Resort

Asia Resort is a budget hotel which is typically frequented by beginner divers who stay at the hotel to get their open-water certification. Although predominantly a divers' resort, the hotel’s budget-friendly rates and convenient downtown location also make it suitable for a wide range of other travelers. There isn’t really all that much to do at the hotel, with the only common spaces being a central swimming pool and a simple restaurant and bar. The pool is lined with tropical greenery, tall trees, and a number of lounge chairs. The poolside setting is fairly relaxed, but it does get a bit crowded at times, especially during dive trainings.

Asia Resort is centrally located in the heart of downtown Koh Tao. Sairee Beach is an easy five-minute walk from the hotel, as are many popular beach clubs, bars, restaurants, and shops. The island’s main port, Mae Haad Pier, is located a 15-minute drive from the hotel and is also a decent place to dine or shop. One of the most beautiful areas for snorkeling and day tripping is the idyllic Nang Yuan Island, located a 30-minute boat-ride from Koh Tao. In addition to the pristine reefs, the island also offers postcard-perfect white-sand beaches and a viewpoint offering dramatic Instagram-worthy vistas. Long tail boat trips to the island can be arranged directly through the hotel or at one of the many tour kiosks which are dotted along Sairee Beach.

Rooms options at Asia Resort include Standard Rooms with Fans, New Superior Rooms, and Thai Superior Rooms with hardwood interiors. All room types have large doors and windows which spill out onto balcony seating areas. Interiors are bright and cheerful, though some may find the mismatched color palette a bit tacky. Higher-tier rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, TVs, mini-fridges, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and bottled water. Standard Rooms with Fans are barebones and can get quite hot due to their lack of air-conditioning. They also don't include mini-fridges or kettles, but do have TVs and bottled water. 

Bathrooms are compact, with just a small shower, a standalone washing sink, plus soap and shampoo. Due to the lack of shower dividers or curtains the whole bathroom floor inevitably gets soaked during showers. The rooms we saw during our tour of the hotel were dated, musty smelling, and had older amenities like tube-style TVs. Also, the Wi-Fi signal doesn't reach most rooms, though it's available in the common areas.

Asia Resort is a budget hotel which is mainly geared towards divers. A complete range of PADI certified courses are offered, and multilingual instructors are on-hand. The restaurant serves Thai and Western meals, but is fairly basic and has mixed reviews. The a la carte breakfast selection is also somewhat limited and is an added charge. Wi-Fi is free throughout the common areas, but the connection can be somewhat unreliable. On-site parking is available. There's a lot out front for parking scooters.
