Bottom Line

The Krabi Tropical Beach Resort is a small, family-friendly property with fewer than 20 rooms. As a value resort, it's not overly fancy but offers a great escape from the crowds in Ao Nang. The resort is located about six miles from the port village of Ao Nam Mao, where boats leave for East Railay Bay. It's on a tranquil and undeveloped beach; while not white sand it's refreshingly devoid of the beach-umbrella and water-sport crowd. Rooms range from Family Apartments with full kitchens to Deluxe and Superior Sea View Rooms, all decorated in contemporary Thai style with patios or balconies, and air-conditioning. There is a small saltwater-treated pool in the garden, a whirlpool, and a restaurant with an open-air section on the deck.

Krabi Tropical Beach Resort

Scene

Peaceful and quiet, not much partying or social life here

There's not too much going on at the Krabi Tropical Beach Resort, which is probably fine by most guests, as peace and quiet is one of its selling points. Suited to families, it offers apartments with full kitchens, and plenty of space and the slides in the garden for the children. The tiny lobby has visibly worn built-in benches topped with leather cushions. There's a coffee table with a built-in seashell display case. Other than the garden pool and open-air seating area overlooking the beach, there's not many places to see other visitors here. It's small, and the beach offers plenty of space and privacy.

Location

Located on a undeveloped quiet beach about six miles from Ao Nang town

The Krabi Tropical Beach resort sits by itself on an undeveloped beach about six miles from Ao Nang town. The resort is near the Ao Nam Mao fishing pier, where excursion boats depart for East Railay Bay. The resort is located along a sleepy road that dead ends at Fossil Shell Beach, which is popular for daytime excursions but quiet at night. There are few restaurants and shops around the resort, which is pretty isolated. The beach here is quiet and peaceful, although it isn't white-sand and not that attractive for sunning or swimming, but it gives a taste of local Thai life before the days of development.
