NH Danube City

NH Danube City is a contemporary hotel that's especially popular with business travelers. The lobby is bright and spacious, a sleek and shiny chain-like affair, but pleasant nonetheless. Glossy tiled floors are interspersed by dark wood columns with built-in brochure displays, while the long front desk has a polished white and brown marble exterior. Contemporary cream chairs provide seating, with pink orchids on black coffee tables adding a nice touch. Hallways vary -- some have standard gray carpeting and white walls that lack decor, while others have dated blue carpets with star prints and red couches. The restaurant maintains the same kind of polished, corporate look, done up in dark shades that pair with the dark wood tables and cream chairs, with touches of red in the form of hanging lamps and flowers on each table. Overall, it's a solid choice for business travelers seeking something in the area or wanting to utilize one of the many meeting rooms, though tourists might want to look for something closer to the city center.

This hotel is located in Kaisermuhlen, an ideal location for business travelers, but not the best for tourists wishing to see the sights. The Vienna International Center is a 15-minute walk away, as are a few other businesses. It’s a 17-minute walk to the Donau Zentrum, Vienna’s biggest shopping mall. There’s not much in the way of dining options nearby, however. The Danube River is just a four-minute walk away and offers leisure activities like swimming and boat rentals, while Donaupark, a lovely urban park, is an eight-minute walk away. The city center is about a 15-minute drive from here -- travelers without a car can catch a bus that stops in front of the hotel, or hop on a metro, which is a five-minute walk from the property. Vienna's International Airport is a 20-minute drive away. 

Guest rooms at this chain hotel feature simple, contemporary decor, though some are more modern in style, while others are dated. Superior and Family Rooms are the more modern offerings, with cream walls, dark wood furnishings, beds covered in white linens, and black-and-white checkered armchairs. But Standard Rooms are due for a refresh, featuring outdated decor like navy star-printed carpets, pale yellow striped wallpaper, blue armchairs, and generic abstract art pieces on the walls. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, safes, kettles, free (but basic) Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and minibars. Superior Rooms and Family Rooms also include Nespresso machines, while Family Rooms have the additional benefits of living rooms furnished with couches. Bathrooms are sleek, with gray granite elements, spacious counters, shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries.

The NH Danube City’s 16 fully equipped meeting rooms are by far the most extensive feature at the hotel. They’re clean, sleek, and can hold up to 450 people. The hotel has a public computer in the lobby and free Wi-Fi throughout, though it's a basic and slow speed. High-speed internet is available for an extra charge, a nuisance for a business-oriented hotel. 

Leisure facilities include a small 24-hour gym with a treadmill, fitness bike, and a weight machine. Though there's no spa on-site, guests receive a discount to a spa in the nearby IZD Tower, which has steam baths and saunas. The hotel's Tarragona Restaurant serves international and local dishes, and even has a tapas buffet once a week. It has outdoor patio seating, as well as offering 24-hour room service. A breakfast buffet is offered in the mornings and can be included in room rates. The Tarragona Bar serves alcoholic drinks throughout the day and into the evening. Other amenities include on-site parking for a fee and free late check-out on Sundays.
