About a 25-minute walk from White House and National Mall
Many kinds of travelers appreciate the 195 modern suite-like accommodations with kitchens at the three-pearl Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention Center. However, the location, a five-minute walk from Walter E. Washington Convention Center, appeals to mostly business travelers. It's about a 25-minute walk to the White House. Families like the hotel for the free hot and cold breakfast and free evening reception Monday through Thursday. There’s no pool on-site, just a modern 24-hour Precor gym and coin-operated 24-hour guest laundry. The nearby Hampton Inn Washington, DC - Convention Center is a good alternative, for though it lacks suites, it does have an indoor pool and hot tub.
Scene
Modern chain hotel with cozy interiors and a clientele of extended-stay guests, business travelers, and families
Opened in 2016, the Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention Center draws a mix of business travelers and families thanks to spacious suites with kitchens and amenities geared toward extended stays. The hotel’s exterior has a lovely brick and glass facade accented by flowery bushes and small trees in front of the entrance. The lobby of this modern hotel is stylish and features a gray and teal color scheme. A curved teal couch in front of the elevators and multiple sitting areas next to electric fireplaces create an overall inviting vibe that allows guests to sit, interact, or work throughout the day and evening. While hallways are a bit bland with a gray and white decor, colorful photographs on the walls break up the monotony of the design.

Rooms
Stylish suites with full kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and business-friendly features
Since it just opened in 2016, this Homewood Suites has 160 pleasant and tastefully decorated rooms that still have that new room feel. While the neutral color tone base is unsurprising and reflects a chain-hotel look, subtle hints of teal in the kitchen walls and decorative elements like lamps makes the spaces feel a bit livelier and homey. The same can be said of the photography pieces hanging on the walls. All suites are clean and spacious, and have full kitchens with full-size fridges, sinks, microwaves, coffeemakers, two-burner cooktops, dishwashers, dishes, and utensils. Free coffee is a nice little perk. Business travelers will appreciate large work desks with plenty of outlets, large safes, free Wi-Fi, and phones with voicemail systems. The rooms are also equipped with flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms are modern, and come with showers and spacious sink countertops. Neutrogena toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Note that some rooms lack good views and there have been reports of air-conditioning issues.
Features
Free breakfast and evening receptions, as well as a gym, laundry room, and business center
Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention told us that they opted for a parking garage instead of a swimming pool. While valet parking for a fee is convenient, a pool would have been a nice leisure perk. However, there are plenty of amenities to keep guests fed and taken care of during their short and extended stays. All guests are welcome to a free breakfast buffet of hot and cold items, as well as an evening reception that includes dinner and drinks Monday through Thursday. For those who need a snack, there’s a small 24-hour mini-mart in the lobby. Stay fit at the 24-hour fitness center which has modern Precor cardio equipment, a few pieces of weight equipment, and free weights. Other convenient features include a business center, free Wi-Fi, and a coin-operated laundry room. Pets are welcome with a non-refundable deposit.
