Bottom Line

The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla, opened in 2009, is the most modern property on this tiny island -- and arguably the most luxurious. The Kelly Wearstler-designed resort manages to mix an upscale look with a laid-back, beachy feel, and features sleek lines, modern amenities, numerous art installations, earth tones, animal prints, and wood, stone, and gold accents. This look continues through the 166 rooms, which have romantic balconies as well as marble bathrooms with separate showers and soaking tubs. Though the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla certainly attracts couples, the resort features a kids' club and teen's club, and families can be seen splashing around in the pools and heading to the tennis courts.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla

Scene

Sleek lines and an open layout gives the resort a decidedly sexy vibe, but the resort attracts couples and families alike.

The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla is the most luxurious resort on the tiny island of Anguilla, with a top-notch spa, gorgeous Kelly Wearstler-designed rooms and public spaces, and a sexy infinity-edge pool at the center of the property. Plus, it sits along one of the most gorgeous beaches in Anguilla (which the much less expensive Anacaona also offers guests access to). The beach at the luxury CuisinArt is also nice, but doesn't quite compare to the white sand and aquamarine waters of the one here.

Due to Anguilla's tranquil atmosphere and the resort's sleek look, it attracts many couples. Guests looking for romance may appreciate that the large size of the property allows for fewer crowds and a peaceful vibe (though it can make getting around a tad more difficult). The resort offers five upscale dining options -- including a sunset lounge -- as well as a luxurious spa and 24-hour room service.

But the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla attracts its fair share of families as well, and the kids' and teen's club make the resort one of the kid-friendliest on the island. Kids' club activities include cooking classes and day trips, and features such as tennis courts, a rock-climbing wall, volleyball and basketball courts, and a putting green also appeal to families. The one thing the hotel lacks, however, is its own golf course; golfers should head to the 18-hole course designed by Greg Norman at the nearby CuisinArt Resort.

Location

On the tiny island of Anguilla

The resort sits on a gorgeous white-sand beach on the western side of the island. The resort is within easy reach of other properties, including the CuisinArt Resort and the boutique Anacaona, located on the same beach.

Anguilla is a small British territory in the Caribbean that covers fewer than 40 square miles. It's less built up than many Caribbean islands, and exudes an upscale vibe -- perhaps due in part to the fact that it is harder to get to than other nearby islands. Visitors must either fly to St. Martin and take a short ferry to the island, or fly in directly (by way of a small seaplane) from San Juan Puerto Rico.

Because of its size, there are few attractions, hotels, shops, and restaurants on the island. Most gourmet restaurants are at hotels, and restaurants are often very expensive as almost everything has to be imported. But Anguilla is a gorgeous place with beautiful white-sand beaches and turquoise waters (great for snorkeling), and it has the happy-go-lucky vibe the Caribbean is known for.

  • On the beach
  • 7-minute drive to the CuisinArt's 18-hole golf course
  • 12-minute drive to the Anguilla Airport
  • 15-minute drive to the Shoal Bay East beach, known for its snorkeling and beach bars
  • 20-minute ferry ride to St. Martin
