Hotel Omni Mont-Royal

The Omni Mont-Royal Hotel draws well-heeled couples, business travelers, and families. Situated in a sleek, 32-story building, interiors are grand and elegant, with a stately lobby that sets the vibe for the rest of the property -- gleaming, cream-colored marble floors and walls are illuminated by a large crystal chandelier, while chic olive-green armchairs flank an open fireplace. The atmosphere is mostly busy during the day with guests and meeting attendees milling about (there are 14 meeting rooms on-site), but evenings are more relaxed with live piano music offered several times a week, and locals and guests alike mingling at Alice Bar. 

The Omni Mont Royal Hotel is centrally situated in the Golden Square Mile right by McGill University, two blocks from Mount Royal Park, and around the corner from the shopping on Saint Catherine Street. It’s a short walk to Crescent Street, which is home to many popular restaurants and pubs. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel and a subway station around the corner. Old Montreal is not within walking distance, however, but it is under a 10-minute drive. The west-central location is convenient for visitors to the university as well as business travelers and tourists; the Montreal Convention Centre, chic Crescent Street, Parc Lafontaine, Olympic Stadium, and other top destinations are all within easy reach via the subway. The Trudeau International Airport is approximately 20 minutes away by car. 

The hotel's 299 rooms feature stylish, contemporary decor with splashy glamorous details such as brass room dividers and bathrooms with Italian marble vanities. The overall effect is one of comfortable luxury -- polished and elegant, yet relaxed, with large, comfy beds and lots of natural light streaming through the windows. Rooms are spacious and include sitting areas with contemporary chairs, large work desks, and dressers that hide minibars and coffeemakers. All rooms also have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, phones, safes, and bathrobes. Suites offer even more space and have separate living rooms with sofa beds, plus added amenities like Nespresso coffeemakers. Street noise can be an issue in some rooms, however.

Hotel Omni Mont-Royal has a huge 6,600-square-foot fitness center comprising of multiple rooms with state of the art equipment, weights, sauna, steam room, TVs, and towels, as well as a separate aerobics studio dedicated to yoga and Pilates. The heated outdoor swimming pool is open seasonally, but there's an indoor whirlpool as well. The on-site spa offers a variety of treatments, and there is an elegant restaurant serving French bistro-style fare as well as a chic bar with great cocktails and light bites. Breakfast incurs a pricey fee, and room service is available 24-hours. Kids are well catered for with fun welcome gifts as well as milk and cookies delivered in-room on the first night. There are 14 meeting rooms on-site that cater to a variety of functions. In-room Wi-Fi incurs a fee, though it's free for members of the hotel's loyalty program, which is free to join. Valet parking is also a steep additional fee.
