The Hotel Ambassadeur Quebec is located in Beauport, north of Old Quebec City. This mid-range hotel has a unique setup, with some rooms featuring balconies that overlook an indoor pool set in a large atrium. The pool area has a variety of plants, a Jacuzzi, and a kids' area. Rooms are large and fall into two major categories: renovated and un-renovated. The un-renovated rooms still feature old bedspreads and bland decor. The renovated rooms are a big upgrade, with higher quality bedding, appealing colors, and upscale bathrooms. Suites are even better; some with a fireplace, soaking tub, and huge flat-screen TV. There is a restaurant in the hotel that allows diners to bring their own wine, and both Wi-Fi and parking are free. The cost-saving location outside of Quebec City may appeal to budget travelers.

Hotel Ambassadeur is located in the city of Beauport which is 10 minutes up the river from the Old City. The area is mostly commercial and full of hotels, but does offer nice views of the river. Public transportation to Quebec City is available but the nearest bus station is a 12-minute walk from the hotel, and in Quebecoise weather, a car may be necessary.
Quebec City is a historic, walled metropolis with the charm, history, and architecture of a European capital, all set at the top of Cape Diamond. The views out over the cliff are beautiful, as are the city's buildings and cathedrals. The city also has a healthy nightlife scene, and during the summer, the party goes on every night. The European feel and sensibility of the city mean that shopping is a worthy endeavor, especially in the boutiques of the Old City. But the weather in the winter is snowy and extremely cold.
