Etekcity Digital Hanging Luggage Scale, $9.99

Etekcity’s digital hanging luggage scale is one of Amazon’s best-selling travel accessories, with nearly 3,000 reviews. At just $9.99, the scale has surely helped countless travelers avoid overweight baggage surcharges, but Joshua S. Falkon found an entirely different use.

“I haven’t had a chance to use it for its intended purpose, but I’ve weighed other things including a chair and my small dog,” Falkon wrote in his review. “It’s easy (and a little fun) to use, even though my dog was a bit confused.”

Premium Travel Money Belt, $18.97

ExpertTravel’s premium travel money belt receives raves from travelers across the globe who have found it comfortable, secure, and a great peace-of-mind.

Although one anonymous reviewer pointed out one flaw they discovered on a trip to Germany and Italy: It just might be too comfortable. “I took a nap one afternoon and forgot I was wearing this,” the reviewer wrote. “I had a momentary scare when I couldn’t remember where my passport was, until I realized it was ON me! Needless to say, totally comfortable!”

American Tourister Luggage Fieldbrook II 3-Piece Set, $49.99

Nothing gets frequent travelers more riled up than luggage. Whether you’re a Rimowa loyalist or buy whatever’s on sale, every traveler as an opinion — especially when it comes to one of Amazon’s best-selling luggage sets, the American Tourister Luggage Fieldbrook II 3-piece set. At just $49.99, the set is affordable and generally gets good reviews, but a few reviewers have had problems.

Siberia2k, who has had the set for 10 years, warns prospective purchasers, “This line is the base product line, it’s like a Toyota Yaris, not the Avalon.”

Travelon Bag Bungee, $11.93

This $12 bag bungee lets you carry two bags securely with very little effort — ideal for quick connections in airports, or trips where you’re constantly on the go. One reviewer gifted it to her husband before a long trip through Australia.

“[He] said it was one of the best gifts I had given him (besides our children, of course),” she wrote. Now that’s an endorsement.

AmazonBasics Automatic Travel Umbrella, $14.29

A good travel umbrella is worth its weight in gold, especially a compact heavy-duty version like the AmazonBasics automatic travel umbrella with wind vents.

One Floridian reviewer said his wife gives the umbrella high marks, but it seems like it was quite the upgrade. “She was using an old broken down umbrella that had no handle and a bent pole because it blew out into the road and a truck ran it over. True story,” he wrote.
