Bottom Line

This upscale oceanfront resort offers spacious multi-bedroom condo units in a beachfront location with stunning ocean views -- but a car is advised to get around, as there's not much in the area and Rosarito's city center is about a 20-minute drive. The attractive grounds offer several sandy terraces, outdoor pools, and hot tubs. Wellness facilities include a spa, several sports courts, and a fitness center offering panoramic ocean views -- plus there's a restaurant for those who don't want to venture into town. The 180 condo units feature tasteful decor and are equipped with full kitchens, living rooms, dining areas, large balconies with gorgeous views over the water, and marble bathrooms with soaking tubs. For something more centrally located, the mid-range Rosarito Inn also offers condo-style units -- though it's a bit dated.

Oyster Hotel Review

Las Olas Resort & Spa

Scene

Upscale condo hotel with attractive grounds and gorgeous ocean views

Scenically set right on the coast for beautiful ocean views, this upscale resort occupies a large cream-colored high-rise that towers over the water and is flanked by a rocky natural beach and man-made sandy areas. Interiors are pleasant and most public spaces are filled with natural light, but its the outdoor areas that shine here, offering stunning vistas over the ocean and plenty of spots for lounging. Though the beach itself is rocky, there are sandy and stone terraces that offer comfortable sunbeds, tables and chairs, and even fire pits, all with gorgeous views. The hotel's outdoor pools are surrounded by sundecks set with loungers and umbrellas that overlook the ocean. Though the hotel is a bit far from the city center -- making a car necessary to get around -- this is a great choice for both leisure and business travelers, and, due to the spacious multi-bedroom units complete with full kitchens, it's especially suited for families and groups.

Location

Scenic beachfront location a 20-minute drive from Rosarito

The hotel occupies a beachfront location outside of Rosarito, a coastal resort city. There are a couple of other hotels in the immediate area, and a handful of dining options and bars. Many more options can be found in the city center, which is about a 20-minute drive away -- so a car is advised to get around. Tijuana and its international airport can be reached in about 50 minutes by car. San Diego is a bit over an hour away -- though drive times vary depending on traffic, which gets congested around the border.
