Hesperia Barcelona Barri Gòtic

Hesperia Barri Gotic is a mid-range hotel popular with tourists who want access to the nearby Gothic Quarter, and the hotel hosts plenty of families thanks to rooms that sleep up to three. Housed in a 19th-century building that was renovated in 2015, this boutique property has a casual, contemporary vibe throughout its common areas. The lobby features marble floors and metal paneling on the walls, with a chic spiral-shaped banquet at its center. A pair of modern elevators leads up to the guest rooms. There's also a lounge area with plush brown crushed-velvet chairs and a mix of modern art and black-and-white photographic prints on the walls. 

Hesperia Barri Gotic is located in Barcelona's Old Town, a seven-minute walk from the Gothic Quarter and the nightlife of El Born and a 10-minute walk from the start of Barcelona's famed La Rambla street. It's a 17-minute walk to Mercat de la Boqueria and a nine-minute drive to El Tablao de Carmen, known for flamenco dancing. Palau de la Musica Catalana concert hall is 10 minutes away by car, while it's a 13-minute drive to L'Eixample, a historic area with modernist architecture. Gaudi's famous Casa Mila is a 15-minute drive from the hotel, while Monestir de Pedralbes, a former monastery that is now a museum, takes 17 minutes to reach by car. It takes 21 minutes by car to reach CosmoCaixa, a renowned science museum. Collserola Park and Antoni Gaudí's famous Sagrada Familia church both take just under a half-hour to reach by car. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from the Barcelona El Prat Airport.

The Hesperia Barri Gotic offers Standard and Superior Rooms, all with similar decor and amenities. The smallest are the Standard Singles, which measure a snug 14 square meters (46 square feet), while the largest are the Standard Rooms that sleep up to three and Superior Rooms, both of which measure 28 square meters (92 square feet). Some rooms have balconies and all have wooden floors and neutral decor brightened up significantly with sunny-yellow padded headboards and red bed throws and curtains over floor-to-ceiling windows. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, safes, and flat-screen TVs with satellite channels. Bathrooms are spacious and modern, with walk-in showers featuring huge ceiling-mounted rainfall showerheads, but counter space is limited. Note that there have been some complaints of street noise in rooms. 

Hotel Hesperia Barri Gotic offers limited amenities, and while there's no restaurant, there is a modern breakfast room with exposed-brick walls where a buffet of continental items along with eggs cooked-to-order is served daily. Breakfast costs extra, though it can be purchased with the room. There's also a lounge area with a business corner and snacks. A bright fitness center has a few cardio machines and a small rack of free weights. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and luggage storage is available at the 24-hour front desk.
