Royal Horizons Boa Vista

The Royal Decameron Boa Vista is situated in a quiet, somewhat remote area on the west coast of Boa Vista island, where it's not uncommon to see goats or donkeys strolling around. The resort occupies a cluster of low-lying stucco buildings painted shades of red, cream, and clay, which stand out against the dry, patchy grasses lining the nearby roads. The property itself is lushly landscaped with flowering bushes and leafy tropical trees, while the welcoming lobby has a pitched wooden roof and several woven couches with bright pink cushions. The pool areas are simple and clean, with white stone decks lined with blue-cushioned loungers. Turquoise waters and a flat, sandy beach provide a relaxing setting for couples resting under thatched umbrellas and enjoying the ocean air. With several French-speaking staff members, the hotel attracts a majority of French visitors. Even though the resort can accommodate families, thanks to the kids' club and live entertainment, most guests are couples. Part of the beach is designated for activities, leaving a separate, quieter area; likewise, one of the pools is strictly for relaxation. 

Just under a 10-minute drive from Rabil Airport, the hotel is located in a picturesque, quiet location on a long stretch of sandy beach. There’s no shuttle at the hotel, but there’s a taxi queue at the hotel entrance. The village of Sal Rei, Boa Vista’s residential center, can be reached in about 15 minutes by car, and costs about $12 by taxi. Sal Rei offers restaurants serving fresh fish, as well as lively sports pubs and beach bars; the port has ferry services to other islands, including Santiago, Sal, and Maio. 

Standard Rooms at the hotel are bright and simple, with pale yellow walls, red-striped bed runners, and clay-colored tile floors. However, the wood-laminate furnishings, wood paneling above the beds, and thick yellow curtains all feel a bit outdated. All rooms are air-conditioned and have flat-screen TVs, safes, and terraces or balconies with tile floors and white plastic furniture. Suites are available with separate living rooms, mini-fridges, and kitchenettes with microwaves, sinks, and stovetop burners. Standard bathrooms have stall showers with blue tiling; suites have shower/tub combos. Some rooms offer sea views, and Wi-Fi is offered for a fee. 

Royal Decameron Boa Vista has two outdoor pools, including a relaxation pool and an activity pool with a pool bar. The hotel has a buffet restaurant, which receives good feedback for the variety of cuisine on offer, including lamb, prawns, and sirloin. There are also two a la carte restaurants, and a few bars, including a disco. A kids' club organizes activities for children, and live entertainment is provided in an outdoor amphitheater. Several outdoor activities are offered, including beach volleyball, tennis, and archery. The hotel has a bright fitness center with outdated machines, and a spa offering beauty and massage treatments, plus a whirlpool tub. There are an Internet room (for a fee), a souvenir shop, and an excursion desk where guests can book trips for a fee.
