Best Hotels on the Beach in Hilton Head, SC

Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is an upscale property with a large pool complex (with three pools and two hot tubs), but its main draw is its beautiful private beach. The beach is manned by lifeguards, and beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent in the resort's on-site shop. A massive 2015 renovation left all parts of the resort contemporary and stylish. The 323 rooms and suites have kitchenettes and balconies with views of the resort or ocean.

Though part of the Holiday Inn chain, the 202-room Beach House feels more like a boutique hotel (a much-needed renovation in 2016 certainly helps with this assessment). The hotel's popular beach bar hosts live music every day of the year, its Southern restaurant gets high marks for its Low Country cuisine and stylishly rustic atmosphere, and its pool deck features some gathering spots, including a fire pit area. Beach House is located on Coligny Beach Park, which is a public beach that can get somewhat crowded. However, the hotel has dedicated beach lounge chairs, volleyball court, and event space.

This swanky resort features beautiful grounds with lots of places to lounge throughout, as well as airy interiors with chic furnishings. Features include several pools (including one that’s heated) and a hot tub, various dining options include indoor and outdoor eateries, and a spa with a long treatment menu. All of the 416 rooms come with 42-inch flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, robes, and private balconies -- some with views of the ocean. The hotel's easy access to the beach is its biggest draw, but note that beach chairs rentals cost a fee (outside of the daily resort fee).

Located on a great white-sand beach, close to three championship golf courses, this upper-middle-range hotel has all the standard amenities of a property of this category: a nice spa, a fitness center, and several dining options, including a convenience-store-style market. The huge outdoor pool with beach views and the comprehensive kids' program make this an excellent pick for families.
