Four Points by Sheraton New Delhi, Airport Highway

The Four Points by Sheraton is, in many ways, a typical airport hotel, and most people who stay here are business travelers or those in transit who want to be close to Delhi's airport. This two-story, off-white building doesn't look particularly impressive from the outside, though sprawling grassy lawns hemmed in by row upon row of hedges help detract from the generic ambience. Inside, the lobby is contemporary and simple, with muted marble floors and a few pieces of low-to-the-ground furniture for guest seating. The plain interiors are brightened up with potted bamboo and Cubist-inspired art on the walls. As it's largely a commuter hotel, there's not much of a social vibe here, though features like an around-the-clock restaurant ostensibly offer a place to hang out outside of guest rooms. Additionally, the hotel does host large-scale events from time to time, including weddings and business functions, which can make things a bit livelier and loud on occasion. 

The Four Points by Sheraton New Delhi is located just off the National Highway 48, a main thoroughfare that connects Delhi and Mumbai, passing through major cities such as Jaipur en route. There's little to see or do near the hotel, though it's just an eight-minute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport. South Delhi's Qutub Minar, takes about half an hour to reach by car, while Humayun's Tomb is a 45-minute drive away, depending on traffic. Expect drives of 50 minutes to an hour to reach attractions in the center of the city, such as Connaught Place and up to 55 minutes to reach Old Delhi and the Red Fort. The IT hub city of Gurgaon is 30 to 45 minutes by car in the opposite direction. Overall, it's a convenient location for those who need to be near the airport or who want relatively convenient access to both Delhi and Gurgaon, but travelers will need to rely on taxis as it's not in an area well served by the metro.

The Four Points offers 70 Traditional and Premium Rooms, each with 269 square feet (25 square meters) of floor space and one king bed or two singles, plus a single 560-square-foot (52-square-meter) Four Points Suite with a king bed. Pleasant contemporary decor is similar in all rooms, with medium wooden floors and off-white walls with a few vintage advertising-style framed prints over small wooden writing desks. Gray easy chairs with red trim sit atop gray-and-red-striped throw rugs, adding a bit of color. The Suite follows a similar decor scheme, though it adds a large living room with a couple of beige sofas, matching chairs, and a small dining table. It's worth noting than when large events are taking place at the hotel, noise can be an issue.

All rooms look out on the pool or garden and come with the chain's signature Four Comfort Beds, free bottled water, electric kettles, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs, while Premium Rooms -- though not much different than their Traditional counterparts -- add freebies such as free roundtrip airport transfers and breakfast. Both room types and the Suite have bathrooms with large mirrors, long granite countertops with small vessel sinks, and walk-in showers with wall-mounted body wash, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers. Hairdryers and robes are provided. Traditional Rooms with grab bars next to the toilet are also available for alter-abled guests and connecting rooms for groups and families are available on request.

The Four Points by Sheraton offers a decent array of amenities for a middle-of-the-road business hotel. There's a fitness center with a few pieces of cardio and weight training equipment plus a large outdoor pool with a sectioned off shallow end. It's big enough to swim laps, but there are only a few lounge chairs so it's not the best place to hang out. Business facilities include high-speed Wi-Fi that's free throughout the property, copying, plus printing, and faxing on request, and indoor and outdoor event space for meetings and receptions. On-site parking is free and car rentals can be arranged through the front desk. 

While the Sheraton isn't the type of place one would come specifically to eat, on-site dining gets generally good reviews from guests and the 24-hour room service is convenient for jet-lagged transit passengers. Fresco Bar and Lounge serves cocktails and beers, while the 24-hour restaurant, The Eatery, serves both international and Indian dishes to guests. Those staying in Premium Rooms and the Suite are entitled to free breakfast, which has a decent number of options, and free airport transfers.
