Bottom Line

La Sagrita is a mid-range boutique hotel located in Sundar Nagar, a leafy, upscale residential neighborhood on the eastern end of Central Delhi, on the border of the lush National Zoologic Park. The 19 rooms here are pleasantly furnished with wood floors and neutral decor, and the marble bathrooms add a luxurious touch, but some past guests have complained of maintenance issues. Hotel amenities include free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour business center, and a 24-hour restaurant serving Indian and international cuisine, with room service around the clock. However, there's no fitness center, so those who want to work out might prefer the nearby Vivanta by Taj Ambassador, which is noisier but has all the perks of La Sagrita, plus a small gym.

La Sagrita

Scene

Elegant boutique hotel popular with business travelers and tourists alike

La Sagrita is a quiet boutique hotel favored by business travelers who want something low key as well as tourists who prefer the quiet of staying in a residential area. It's located in a leafy neighborhood among large residential homes, and blends in well to its surrounds -- the three-story property would look more like a huge house than a hotel were it not for the large "La Sagrita" sign on its rooftop. Inside, the lobby is small and contemporary, with elegant marble walls with a few Buddhist-inspired art features, a large marble front desk, and a cozy seating area consisting of a couple of plush white sofas and a heavy marble-topped coffee table. An elevator leads up to the rooms. Other common areas include a large grassy lawn, a back patio with a table and chairs, and a small restaurant with a neutral decor scheme highlighted by decorative muted oranges plus a glass ceiling that lets in lots of natural light.

Location

In the lush, upscale Sundar Nagar neighborhood, a short walk from the National Zoologic Park

The hotel is located in leafy Sundar Nagar, an upscale residential neighborhood on the eastern end of Central Delhi. The local market area, which has a number of small boutiques and a few higher-end restaurants, is under a 10-minute walk from the hotel. It's two blocks away from the lush National Zoologic Park, home to the Delhi Zoo, and a five-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the Delhi Golf Club. It's a seven-minute drive down the road from Humayan's Tomb, one of the city's three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The sprawling Lodhi Gardens, full of Lodhi-era tombs and meandering paths, are within a 10-minute drive. It's 15 minutes by car to central Delhi's Connaught Place and just over 10 minutes to Jantar Mantar, a collection of ancient astronomical instruments. Getting to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi's best-known Sikh temple, takes about the same amount of time to reach.

Old Delhi Railway Station and Old Delhi's bustling market area -- Chandni Chowk -- are both about 20 minutes or so away by car, while it's a 13-minute drive to New Delhi Railway Station. South Delhi attractions such as the Lotus Temple and the Qutub Minar also take about 20 minutes by car to reach, but the journey can be much longer depending on traffic. The Indira Gandhi International Airport is just shy of 45 minutes away by car without traffic, but can take significantly longer during peak hours.

Rooms

Pleasant, modern rooms with lovely marble bathrooms; some rooms have terraces

La Sagrita offers three room types: Luxury, Executive, and Premium. All have a similar decor scheme, with hardwood floors, off-white walls, neutral beige and brown curtains, and dark-wood accents in the form of desks, wall panels, and headboards. Most of the color in the rooms comes from throw cushions and bed runners (colors vary from room to room). Some units have patios or terraces with basic seating areas. Entry-level Executive Rooms measure 170 square feet and come with air-conditioning, kettles, safes, 32-inch flat-screen TVs. Premium Rooms aren't much different (though at 200 square feet, they are slightly larger), while Luxury Rooms measure 250 square feet and add mini-fridges and 40-inch flat-screen TVs. All rooms have lovely cream-colored marble bathrooms with walk-in showers and basic toiletries. Due to the hotel's residential location, rooms are generally quiet, though there have been some complaints of maintenance and upkeep concerns.
