Bottom Line

Centrally located between the Reamur-Sebastopol and Strasbourg St. Denis metro stations, off the very busy Boulevard de Sebastopol,  the Golden Tulip Little Palace is a 15- to 20-minute metro ride to various Paris sights. Housed in a late-19th century building with a classical facade of marble columns and carved stone, this boutique property's interior is sleek, colorful, and quirky -- large replica Gustav Klimt paintings double as headboards in the rooms here. Rooms, which include four suites, come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, air-conditioning, and minibars. While some have balconies and terraces, be aware that the less expensive rooms have limited views.

Scene

This stylish boutique hotel is characterized by stained-glass windows and marble pillars in the lobby.

The Golden Tulip is
pretty: The lobby's entryway is painted blue, and two large mirrors offset the muted blue, gray, and white tiled flooring. While the lobby is stylish and distinctively modern -- with chrome overhead lighting and pops of color in the seating and artwork -- it has also retained a bit of the 19th century in two
ornate pillars and large Gustav Klimt art reproductions. The bar is quirky and has a terrace. Its globe lighting (somewhat reminiscent of the '70s disco balls) and chrome bar give it a cool vibe, and the stained-glass ceiling and windows complement the look (breakfast is served both here and in the designated breakfast room). The vibe here is warm and welcoming, and the hotel is popular with couples, families, business travelers, and solo travelers.

Location

A 15-minute walk to Chatelet-les-Halles and the Georges Pompidou Center

Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre are within a 20-minute walk of the hotel, or a 15-minute metro ride. The Picasso Museum in the Marais is also within a 20-minute walk, and the Opera is within a 10- to 15-minute metro ride. The hotel sits between the Reaumur-Sebastopol and Strasbourg-St. Denis metro stations (Line 4), and is also within walking distance of the Arts et Metiers station (Line 3). A number of bus lines run near the hotel as well.

Rooms

Air-conditioned and artsy, with French doors and fun furniture

Rooms are small but chic, decorated in a modern style.
Some rooms have terraces or balconies with French doors, fun colorful outdoor
furniture, and sweeping views of Paris. Beds come with comfy bedding and velvet throw pillows. Pops of color can be found throughout, and headboards incorporate famous painting prints. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and minibars. Bathrooms, which come with toiletries, are small with frosted glass doors, but are efficiently designed, with
classy tiles and brand-new showers with rainfall showerheads.

Features

Bicycle rentals and a small meeting room

The bar is open night and day, so guests can gather there, and sit under the lovely stained-glass ceiling. The hotel
has an event space as well, which includes a small meeting room. There’s
no fitness center, but bikes can be rented for a fee. There's a computer station with a printer in the lobby and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. A breakfast buffet is served every morning, though there's a fee for it.
