Set in a 16th-century building, it has an imposing wooden doorway with an ornately carved, weather-worn stone frame that's surrounded by flaking stucco. A marble staircase leads to the third floor of the building, where the hotel is located. The reception area is tiny -- it's little more than a room and a desk, and hallways are white and beige and unadorned. Opened in 2011, the hotel has seven rooms and no common areas, making the vibe more bed and breakfast than hotel.

The beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria is less than five minutes' walk away, while other tourist attractions, such as the Pantheon and Spanish Steps, are about a mile from the hotel. Termini railway station, which connects to Fiumicino Airport in about 25 minutes, is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
