Hotel Petra

Although the brick exterior seems plain and uninviting, the Hotel Petra's friendly and welcoming atmosphere inside makes the hotel feel like home. Simple furnishings, such as the leather seating at the front desk, decorate the small lobby. Orange walls, stone floors, and a flat-screen TV also adorn the area, and there is a large window for natural light. However, there are no other indoor common areas and no breakfast room. Outside, there is the well-maintained garden with olive trees and well-landscaped grounds, which include a tennis court/soccer field, which is especially popular for families. The hotel is also popular with business travelers working in the area.

The Hotel Petra is located in a residential area in Tor Vergata, a town outside Rome, within walking distance of restaurants, businesses, and the Domus Shopping Center within walking distance. Ciampino Airport and the University of Rome Tor Vergata are each a 10-minute drive from the hotel, while the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, Colosseum, Roma Termini train station, and Piazza della Repubblica are all at least 25 minutes away. The Villa Borghese, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon are a 30-minute drive. Guests will need a rental car to get to popular attractions since public transportation can take about two hours. The hotel does offer a free shuttle to local sights, businesses, and public transportation.

The large rooms at the Hotel Petra have a simple yet comfortable feel, with large windows for natural light, and matching blue patterned bedspreads and curtains. Rooms have stained wood furniture, maroon carpeting, and a table or desk with seating. All rooms have coffeemakers and basic minibars, flat-screen TVs, and air-conditioning, as well as balconies or terraces, but only some have metal furniture with nice views of the grounds. Some rooms are especially large, with blue couches in addition to wood dining tables. Gray-tile bathrooms are a bit more modern, with a lot of counter space, hairdryers and shower/tub combinations. Some bathrooms are large; all have Hotel Petra toiletries. Pink walls are old, though, and some rooms only have showers.

A free local shuttle to the Anagnina metro station, malls, and local destinations is a highlight of the Hotel Petra, as is the in-room breakfast, which includes jam, coffee, biscuits, fruit, croissants, muffins, Nutella, tea, and cereal. Concierge and room services are provided and the front desk is open 24-hours a day. An outdoor tennis court/soccer field is surrounded by a fence and is next to a brick area with green metal seating. Free Wi-Fi, parking, and laundry facilities are available, but there is no business center and there is a fee for airport transportation.
