This renowned inn is one of the premier luxury options in Maine, and offers a true boutique experience in charming Kennebunk. It is housed in a historic building, and so its 26 rooms vary greatly in size. However, they all feature flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and classic, elegant decor. The much-acclaimed restaurant serves outstanding (and pricey) seasonal cuisine in an 1820s restored barn, and the spa is arguably one of the best in the region. The waterfront cottages are quite a trek from the main building, so make sure you book a guestroom instead if you want to be closer to the property’s great amenities.

The White Barn is closer to the attractions of Kennebunkport than those in Kennebunk, the city to which it officially belongs. It has a great location close to some wonderful beaches, and a nice walk or short drive to most restaurants and bars in the area.
First settled in 1621, Kennebunk is now a popular summer destination in Maine for the well-heeled. This tiny town is famous for its beautiful historical architecture, as well as for the great sandy beaches located southeast of the city center. The village is easily explored on foot, but if you feel like driving a few minutes, Kennebunkport, a neighboring but independent town, offers good dining spots and some historic buildings worth seeing.
Summer Street is the main thoroughfare in Kennebunk, and was Maine’s first Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, it is still one of the busiest roads in town, with wonderful houses and well-tended lawns on both sides. The downtown area is centered around Main Street (which turns into Summer Street), where you will find several small restaurants and stores, but little more. Don’t come to Kennebunk hoping for a hopping nightlife or endless cultural activities -- this is the perfect spot for a quiet getaway.
