Getting Outdoors in Napa Valley (2 of 9)

The Napa River is a lovely setting for any boating excursion, and hotels such as Miliken Creek Inn and Spa and the Napa River Inn sit right along the babbling waters.
Northern California's gorgeous Napa Valley region has tons of wino-centric activities to offer throughout its lush, rolling hills and endless vineyards. But there's also plenty to do here even if you're not a wine connoisseur, from biking, to hiking, to hitting the Napa River. Take a look at our favorite outdoor activities in stunning Napa Valley.
Napa Valley's main draw, of course, is its vineyards. Plenty of Wine Country stays, including the Calistoga Ranch, the Harvest Inn, and the Meritage Resort, have their own on-site vineyards. The Napa River is a lovely setting for any boating excursion, and hotels such as Miliken Creek Inn and Spa and the Napa River Inn sit right along the babbling waters. If natural river waters aren't your thing, there are plenty of gorgeous hotel pools throughout the region with scenic views and space for lounging. One of our faves is this sleek pool, adjacent to a vineyard, at Calistoga Ranch. The Auberge du Soleil provides all guests with yoga mats, which can be used throughout the stunning grounds property. Calistoga Ranch also boasts an outdoor yoga deck, overlooking a similarly lush setting. In such secluded, peaceful areas, it's hard not to find your Zen at resorts like these. Several stays in the area have their own private trails, including the massive Calistoga Ranch, set on a private 157-acre park-like property. After a day on the trails, guests can hike on over to the private wine cave, which is stocked with a wide variety of local and international wines. You don't have to be an expert cyclist to bike these hills! Many hotels, including the Napa River Inn, offer on-site bike rentals and tours of the surrounding area. Napa is a culinary capital, but that doesn't mean you have to dine-in to experience the tastes of the town. With food options for every diet and budget, grab-and-go meals are a great way to enjoy the region's best cuisine while taking in the scenery... Just don't forget the wine! Solage Calistoga, located in Northern Napa Valley, is close to hiking, biking and jogging trails, but also offers great on-site recreation such as bocce ball and bicycle rentals. Nearby the Calistoga Ranch and Westin Verasa offer similar recreational activities. While outdoor spa treatments may not technically be on the itinerary for the "outdoorsy" traveler, we'll take any excuse to enjoy the alluring Wine Country surroundings. Many resorts in the area have great outdoor treatment facilities, such as the chic outdoor rain showers at the Calistoga Ranch.
