Pros
- Right on the beach, amid lush tropical gardens in northern Nevis
- Romantic, historic plantation inn with cottage-style accommodations
- Airy, tastefully decorated rooms with custom-stocked minibars, coffeemakers and free Wi-Fi
- Fine and casual dining options (but they're average)
- Freshwater pool with ocean views and a Jacuzzi
- Full-service spa and in-room massages available
- Small fitness center, tennis courts, croquet lawn, kayaks and snorkel equipment
- Rates include breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner
- Introductory scuba lessons in the pool
- Free airport shuttle service for stays of 5-plus nights
- Attentive, professional staff
Cons
- No TVs in rooms (a pro for some!)
- Rooms are attractive and airy, but a bit run-of-the-mill
Bottom Line
Located right on a pretty beach in northern Nevis, this upscale property is a great spot for a romantic getaway. Its 36 airy, cottage-style rooms offer lots of privacy, and are tastefully decorated in green and brown hues. They have wonderful in-room amenities, including custom-stocked minibars, but overall they don't quite deliver the level of luxury expected at this hefty price tag. Service is attentive, and unexpected extras such as hiker GPS systems, Flip video cameras, and tennis and croquet equipment -- all available free of charge -- demonstrate the Nisbet's attention to detail. The varied dining options, the pleasant pool and the beautiful setting on the beach are all highlights. However, it's worth comparing prices with the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.

Location
On a sandy beach in northern Nevis, close to the airport
The Nisbet Plantation Beach Club is set in 30 acres of tropical grounds on a sandy beach. The estate is very close to the airport, but few guests land here. Most people fly to St. Kitts and then take a ferry across The Narrows to Oualie Beach, where they are picked up by the hotel. Charlestown, the island’s capital, is a short drive away, as is Pinney’s Beach, one of the most famous (but still pretty empty) beaches on Nevis.
Nevis is the smaller of the two islands that form the nation of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is quieter and less crowded than St. Kitts -- even though they both remain pretty unspoiled -- and has wonderful stretches of sand. Beaches on the western side of the island are more family-friendly, with calm, shallow waters great for swimming and snorkeling. The east is rocky and has rough waters, but the beaches here are a beautiful sight as you drive along the coast. There’s little nightlife, but some beach and hotel bars have live music several nights a week. The Botanical Gardens, the Jewish Cemetery, the Museum of Nevis History, and the Eden Brown State are all sight worth checking out if you want to take a break from lounging in the sun.
