In the heart of Paris, close to tourist attractions and within four blocks of three subway lines
Pavillon de la Reine is located on historic Place des Vosges, a tree-lined square with beautiful stone buildings and a colonnade. The hotel stands across from Victor Hugo’s home, now a museum open to the public, and several art galleries. The square itself is located in Le Marais area, one block from world-famous Rue de Rivoli, where L’Hotel de Ville (the city hall), the Louvre, and the Tuileries Garden and Palace are.
The 3rd arrondissement is one big tourist attraction. It encompasses the historic Ile de la Cite, where Notre Dame and La Sainte-Chapelle are; Ile Saint-Louis, with wonderful 17th century architecture; and Beaubourg, with sites such as the Centre Pompidou and Place des Vosges (where the hotel is located). It has a wonderful shopping area with many antiques shops, and is packed with cafes and restaurants. It is also within walking distance of the 1st arrondissement, the most beautiful and exclusive area in Paris.
Located in the upscale, historic Place de Vosges -- the oldest planned square in Paris, built by Henri IV starting in 1605 -- the elegant Pavillon de la Reine exudes a quintessentially Parisian elegance and charm. Each of its 53 beautifully appointed rooms is uniquely decorated in a style that ranges from classic French (four-poster beds and toile wallpaper) to contemporary (tufted, upholstered headboards in bright hues). Some feature Juliette balconies that overlook the lovely topiary- and ivy-clad grounds, while others feature slanted ceilings (which can make the space feel more cramped). Every room, though, comes with the same high-end amenities, including flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and spacious bathrooms. There's no restaurant, but the hotel features a wonderful spa by Carita Paris with exclusive treatments. With all this luxury, though, expect a price to match.
