Bottom Line

The 406-room Hotel Le Concorde Quebec is a mid-range hotel with a wide range of amenities. Rooms come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and Keurig coffeemakers, but they're simple and have some wear and tear. The property is known for its elegant rotating restaurant, Ciel! Bistro-Bar, which offers fabulous views of the city, but there is also a more casual lobby dining spot serving breakfast and Italian fare at lunch and dinner. The heated indoor pool is a great perk with two whirlpools and huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering park views, but it's rather compact and can feel crowded on weekends. The adjacent gym is equipped with a handful of cardio and strength-training machines, while the spa offers massages and saunas. Maintenance issues are present here, and valet parking is expensive. For something more intimate (albeit pricier), consider the luxe Auberge Saint-Antoine nearby.

Hôtel Le Concorde Québec

Scene

Mid-range hotel with a corporate vibe and amenities for families, business travelers, and couples

The mid-range Hotel Le Concorde is housed in a towering structure with a couple dozen stories of hotel rooms and crowned with a rotating rooftop restaurant. The lobby is grand if slightly corporate, with a double-sided gas fireplace, marble walls with wooden paneling in parts, orange accents in carpeting and decorative pieces, and an escalator leading to the mezzanine. The hotel draws tourists and business travelers alike, but the overall vibe is more corporate than leisure-focused during the week. However, the hotel’s indoor pool, central location, and competitive rates make it a popular pick among families on weekends, which can make some common areas feel crowded and loud at times.

Location

In the heart of Quebec's Old City, a short walk from many attractions

Hotel Le Concorde Quebec is located in Quebec's Old City, within walking distance of many of its main attractions. It's a seven-minute walk to the House of Parliament, while getting to the Musee National des Beaux Arts, Battlefields Park (where the British won control of Quebec), and the nightlife of Rue Saint-Jean takes around 12 minutes. The Citadel de Quebec, a historic military base and city landmark, takes around 15 minutes to reach on foot.

Farther afield, it's a six-minute drive to the 17th-century Notre-Dame de Quebec Cathedral, eight minutes to Place Royale, and nine minutes to the Musee de la Civilisation and the Maison Chevalier (the former home of Jean Baptiste Chevalier, now a museum). The Quartier du Petit Champlain -- the oldest commercial district in North America -- takes just a few minutes more to get to by car. Jean Lesage Airport is a 23-minute drive from the hotel.

Rooms

Simple rooms and suites with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and Keurig coffeemakers

This hotel offers a wide range of rooms and suites, most of which come with two double beds or one king or queen. Decor is simple and a bit plain across categories, consisting of dark laminate floors and chocolate-brown, clean-lined furniture that stand out against the off-white walls. Entry-level Regular Rooms have dark accents around padded headboards, while Concorde Rooms have a slightly warmer feel, with ergonomic desk chairs and lots of deep rosy-pink accents in the furniture. Maintenance, however, isn’t great, and there have been reports of spotty TV signals, threadbare towels, and overall wear and tear.

All rooms come with similar amenities, including free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and Keurig coffeemakers. Bathrooms in most units are simple and on the dark side, but have plenty of counter space and come equipped with shower/tub combos, hairdryers, basic toiletries, and magnifying mirrors.

Higher-category rooms, such as the Prestige Rooms, are located on higher floors and thus have better views. Grande-Allee Suites feature two bedrooms, living rooms with dining areas, and jetted tubs. There's also the one-bedroom L'Espoir (Hope) Suite, which takes on the theme of breast cancer awareness, with shades of pink and a pink ribbon art piece behind the bed. Some proceeds of the room sales go to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Features

Rotating rooftop restaurant, Italian eatery, indoor pool, spa, and small gym

The star feature of this hotel is its stunning rotating rooftop restaurant, Ciel! Bistro-Bar, which turns gradually so that guests can take in views of the Saint Lawrence River, the Quebec cityscape, and the mountains in the distance. It's open for lunch and dinner and offers all sorts of French-inspired dishes along with a few vegetarian and fish options. There's also an extensive wine list and a cocktail bar here. For something a bit more casual, JaJa, on the main floor, is open for all three meals and serves pizza and other Italian items, with a special kids' menu available.

The hotel also offers a lovely indoor pool area in a bright space with floor-to-ceiling windows, a handful of lounge chairs, and lots of tropical plants. The spa offers saunas and hot tubs, and there's a massage room right by the pool. There's also a small fitness center with free weights, a few cardio machines, and beautiful Plains of Abraham views.

For business travelers, the hotel offers 18 event spaces for up to 900 people, and a good selection of audiovisual equipment along with free, property-wide Wi-Fi. Valet parking is available, but it's expensive, and better deals can be found at some of the many private parking garages in the area. There are also a few shops in the lobby selling snacks, souvenirs, and a hodgepodge of gift items, from bathrobes to Moroccan lanterns. Pets are welcome for a fee.
