Talking mice with high-pitched voices are not the only freaky things in and around Orlando. In fact, the area boasts a variety of bizarre attractions, two of which may peak your curiosity.
Gatorland (14501 S Orange Blossom Trail): The crowd at Gatorland is a bit rough, but the kitschy overgrown roadside attraction houses the world’s largest collection of leucistic alligators. The four white gators have brilliantly blue eyes and are exceptionally aggressive. The rest of the gator themed attractions — wrestling shows, feedings, and a serpentarium — border between disturbing and entertaining. It’s all just four miles away from the hotels on International Drive.
The Mediums of Cassadaga (1112 Stevens Street, Cassadaga): Twenty minutes north of Orlando, Cassadaga is a small community of mediums that functions as a Spiritualist camp offering readings, classes, church services, and informative sessions. Though still well off the beaten path, tourist ventures to Cassadaga have surged in tandem with the popularity of TV shows like the Most Haunted programs on the Travel Channel. Established as a Spiritualist community over 115 years ago, the 57 acres home to the Southern Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association was designated a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Twenty-five of the camp’s residents offer counseling and readings from their homes. The camp “welcomes not only believers, but the curious and skeptical, as well.” The camp is one hour north of most Disney hotels.
