Oyster Hotel Review
Comfort Inn Tunnel Road and I-40
Basic chain hotel that's popular with budget-conscious families and couples
There aren't many surprises at this Days Inn -- it's a reasonably modern place that fits the bill for travelers on the go, or in need of a cheap-ish home base near Asheville. Common areas are few, though the small lobby has a couple of arm chairs plus a breakfast area. It can be crowded at times, though most guests are either using the pool (when it's warm) or are out exploring the region. This hotel is geared toward budget-conscious families and couples visiting the Asheville area.
Just off I-40, about a 10-minute drive from downtown and the Biltmore Estate
This hotel is situated right off Interstate 40 in East Asheville, about a 10-minute drive from downtown and a four-minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway. A car will be essential for travelers wanting to stay here, though the immediate area has several other hotels and fast food outlets, including a Waffle House across the busy street. The Biltmore Estate can be reached in about 11 minutes by car, Black Mountain in 10 minutes, and the Asheville Mall in seven minutes. Plan on about 20 minutes by car to the Asheville Regional Airport.
Pleasant rooms with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers
Rooms are reasonably modern and decorated in sunny shades of yellow, orange, and red. Furniture is clean-lined two-toned wood, and beds sit in front of an orange accent wall. The red-and-yellow bed runners add even more color, along with the patterned carpets. Abstract, generic art hangs on the wall. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, and safes. Bathrooms are small and basic, with tiled shower/tub combos, hairdryers, and toiletries. Sinks with granite countertops are located outside of the main bathroom area. Adjoining rooms are available, and children 18 and younger stay free with an adult.
Free breakfast, outdoor pool, computer desk, free parking and Wi-Fi, dog-friendly
A breakfast buffet is served daily in a small breakfast area off the lobby. Dishes include breads, pastries, make-your-own waffles, yogurt, cereals, fruits, and hot selections such as eggs, biscuits and gravy, and sausage. The small outdoor pool is beside the parking area. A few lounge chairs are available for poolside lounging. There's a desk in the lobby with a computer and printer for guests to use. On-site parking is free, as are Wi-Fi and a daily newspaper. Dogs are allowed for a fee.
