Scene
Small mansion hotel with Art Deco interiors and elegant feel
Hotel & Spa Le
Doge is housed in an elegant white mansion erected in the 1930s. Re-opened in 2010 as a hotel, it feels like a gracious home. Guests enter to an elegant, warmly lit lobby with a chandelier, wall
of mirrors, and eye-catching Tamara de Lempicka painting. The space is filled with a burgundy velour sofa, red-and-brown
Art Deco rug, circular tables, and Moroccan mosaic vases. There is a spiral staircase with a wrought iron railing and red-carpeted stairs. Guests gather in the lobby and in the wood-paneled
library bar with leather chairs, stained glass windows, books, and
piano. A live pianist plays on some evenings. The French restaurant's Art Deco dining room features a stained glass
ceiling and windows. Guests can read a book, converse, and get some sun on the
fifth floor garden terrace with a view of Ligue Arab Park. The hotel tends to draw well-heeled tourists and couples, who
appreciate its luxury and intimate feel.
