Bottom Line

The adult-only, upscale Breathless Cabo San Lucas Resort & Spa tops the list of party hotels in downtown Cabo. All 169 suites at Breathless are purposefully minimalistic in decor, but feature modern technology: iPads, Nespresso machines, and free minibars. Two gorgeous infinity pools grant lovely ocean views, and poolside drink and food service is available. The Freestyle Pool hosts all-day parties and adult-oriented shows, and staff organizes evening pub crawls. The hip hotel features a tranquil spa, 24-hour fitness center, and 11 (mostly) all-inclusive restaurants and bars to grab a bite or drink. The location on Playa el Medano and overlooking the marina means noise is heard from early mornings into the night. For those looking for a quieter chic hotel, check out Bahia Hotel & Beach Club for a much lower price -- but rates aren't all-inclusive and there aren't any bikini contests.

Breathless Cabo San Lucas Resort & Spa

Scene

Hip and lively hotel with organized activities and a party vibe throughout -- no kids allowed

Known as the rebel little sister to other AM Resorts (Secrets and Dreams), Breathless keeps the party going from morning to late into the night. Guests are greeted with welcome Champagne and the phrase "Welcome to the party," in the wood and rock accented lobby. There's non-stop action throughout the day by the massive party pool where a DJ spins house and top 40 music, bikini contests take place, and drinks are served poolside. For those seeking a more low-key day, there is also a quiet infinity-edge pool overlooking the marina. By night there are a host of organized events including pub crawls through Cabo, lingerie shows, and sensuality shows. Some events, like live music, take place nightly, while others are theme nights, most of which take place in the trendy Purple VIP Rooftop Lounge. Guests can find a calendar of hotel events on the iPads in all of the rooms. It's no surprise that kids aren't allowed here. This is an all-inclusive resort that doesn't require an unsightly wristband.

Location

Overlooking the marina in downtown Cabo, easy walking distance to restaurants and bars

Breathless Cabo has a coveted location situated on the corner end of Playa el Medano and overlooking the marina, with lovely sweeping views of both. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the many bars, restaurants, and water sports shops along the boardwalk bordering the popular marina. This is also where whale watching, party cruises, and glass-bottom boats depart.

While Cabo is well-known for its vibrant nightlife, there are tons of daytime activities as well. The small town of San Jose Cabo, well-known for its weekly art scene and quaint cobblestone streets, is located a 35-minute drive along the main drag, The Corridor. There are almost endless restaurants and beaches along The Corridor, including the gorgeous Costa Azul Beach with its easy public access and parking, which is a 30-minute drive from Breathless.

Guests should allow at least 45 minutes of travel time to get to the San Jose International Airport.

Spacious suites with hip decor; each comes with a free minibar, iPad, Nespresso machine, and marina views

Across all categories, the decor in the suites at Breathless is hip and minimalist. All suites are furnished with blond bedside tables and small work desks. Guests can expect light colors throughout the rooms with gray couches, white walls, and pink pillows.

Xhale Club Suites have all the same amenities as Allure Suites, but are a nice upgrade with top shelf liquors, an array of minibar snacks, and access to the exclusive Xhale Lounge for a full bar, snacks throughout the day, and comfy couches.

The moderately-sized balconies with lovely views of the marina are a nice highlight in all of the suites. iPads with the resort's calendar of party events, internet, and room service are nice freebies in each of the suites.

The open-floor plan bathrooms come with large standing showers and separate toilet areas. There are plenty of vanity space, toiletries, hairdryers, and robes.
