This upper-middle-range all-inclusive resort offers plenty of features and services aimed at both couples and families with kids. The extensive grounds -- which are cut through by a river -- offer a lovely stretch of beach. Three restaurants and bars offer 24/7 food and drink; there are two outdoor pools with kids' areas; a full spa offers a variety of treatments; and there are plenty of sports courts as well as outdoor activities and water sports offered. The property could use some updating as the interiors are dated and lackluster, and some facilities, like the gym, are unattractive. However, the 236 guest rooms are clean and all offer private balconies as well as amenities like flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. For something similar, compare with Hotel Praia Dourada, for cheaper rates and slightly fewer features.
Scene
Family favorite all-inclusive resort set on beachfront grounds
Set on over 16 acres of beachfront grounds, this all-inclusive resort offers a wealth of activities and features to suit both couples and families with kids alike. A river cuts through the property (leading to the ocean), whose grounds are peppered with lush greenery and palm trees. Interiors are fairly lackluster, with sloped wooden ceilings and tile floors that are accompanied by large windows overlooking the flora outside and letting in natural light. Decor is bland and a bit dated, but guests tend to spend most of their time outside anyway. The resort attracts lots of families with kids -- the majority of which are Brazilian -- and it does a great job at catering to the young ones with various features and services, as well as perks like free stays for children (up to two kids stay for free in suites, or one in Standard Rooms).
Location
Beachfront grounds on the outskirts of Maragogi
The resort is set on extensive beachfront grounds divided by a river, situated on the outskirts of Maragogi, a coastal resort town in eastern Brazil. The area is known for its lovely long beaches and coral reefs, and though there's a beach on-site, there are several more beautiful beach options a short drive away, including Antunes Beach (12-minute drive), Xareu Beach (12-minute drive), and Praia Ponta De Mangue (15-minute drive). The town center is about a five- to 10-minute drive from the property, where guests will find dining options, bars, and shops. The nearest airport is the Maceió/Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport, which is about a two-hour drive away.
Rooms
Bland and dated rooms have private balconies, flat-screen TVs, and minibars
Rooms are fairly plain and dated in style, but they're clean and pleasant enough. Tile floors and off-white walls look a bit clinical, but are brightened by mustard-colored curtains and art prints on the walls. Simple wooden furniture includes desks, while beds are made with white linens. All rooms have private balconies furnished with plastic tables and chairs. Other standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi. Suites have separate living rooms, while Family Suites have two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Much like the rooms, bathrooms are plain; they're equipped with long vanities and showers. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided.
Features
Large grounds with two outdoor pools, sports courts, lovely beach, three restaurants and bars, full spa, and kids' amenities
The property's extensive grounds include two outdoor pools, one of which is a large freeform option with kids' areas and a surrounding sundeck dotted with umbrella-shaded tables and chairs as well as loungers. Organized activities like water aerobics are offered, plus a variety of others are available (for a fee) at the beach or on the river, including water sports like windsurfing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. The beach is sandy and offers palapa-shaded sunbeds. There's also a dive center on-site. The hotel has a full service spa, offering a varied menu of massages, baths, and other treatments, as well as nail and hair services. The fitness center, though not very attractive, offers a variety of dated cardio machines and weights. For those who want to take their workouts outside, there are several sports courts available, including three tennis courts, a soccer field, and a volleyball court, plus bike rentals are available.All-inclusive plans cover all meals, snacks, and drinks (including alcohol) at the hotel's three restaurants and bars, with food available 24/7. Besides the main buffet restaurant (which offers a kids' menu as well as designated dining space for families with kids), there are also two a la carte restaurants, a beach bar for drinks and snacks, a cafe, and a sports bar. Note that food gets mixed reviews. Room service is available. Families are well catered to here, with a wealth of amenities and services aimed at the young ones, including a kids' club for those aged four to 12 and babysitting services. Other amenities include a shop that sells clothes, snacks, and sundries, as well as a business area with computers. Evening entertainment includes live music and various performances, and there's a game room with pool tables, ping-pong, arcade games, and foosball. Wi-Fi is free throughout. On-site parking is free.
