Superb views of the beautiful Devon coast do wonders for inner peace. So do spas. Scenery and spas are both on hand at these hotels in Torquay, a seaside town on the English Riviera.

  1. The charming Cary Arms is scenically set overlooking Babbacombe Bay, a minute's walk to the beach. The stunning seaside location all but assures a relaxing getaway, and features like a cozy lounge with fireplace, an inviting pub, and an on-site spa simply dial up the peaceful and quaint atmosphere. Opened in late 2016, Cary Arms' spa offers a hydrotherapy pool and two treatment rooms, as well as a sauna, steam room, and an aromatherapy and phototherapy shower. The spa menu offers a variety of Thalgo treatments.

  2. Originally built as a private summer house for Nicholas Romanov -- the last tsar of Russia -- this grand Victorian villa certainly boasts one Torquay's more impressive heritages. A storied history doesn't prevent the property from evolving: The hotel spa was completed in early 2016 and includes hydro pools, a sauna, steam room, hot tub, and lounge with coastal views. There is also a small fitness center available for guests' use. Though the spa is relatively new, other areas of the hotel could use a refresh; Cary Arms is overall much more contemporary and fresh.

  3. This historic clifftop property offers gorgeous views of the Devon coast and a good number of facilities for the price. The mid-range hotel has a decent-sized outdoor pool with terraced sundecks and beautiful sea views. The Imperial's outdoor pool is a a huge plus over the Headland, which doesn't have one, but the Headland's new spa facilities ultimately give it the edge. The Imperial also an indoor pool, as well as a hot tub, sauna, and solarium. Other wellness facilities include a fitness center, an outdoor tennis court, and a spa offering various treatments utilizing Decleor products, including facials, massages, and manicures.
